I'm baking a whole chicken tomorrow and I'm tired of it not having much flavor. What do you put on your chicken to give it more flavor? Any ideas are appreciated.

I love roasted chicken and always make it the same way woth garlic, olive oil and lemon. For a change I bookmarked a recipe for a rub on All Recipes that was good and easy. I let the rub sit for 4-5 hours on the chicken in the fridge but I baked it for an 1 1/2 - 2 hours at 350 for a 5-6 lb chicken. This recipe calls for 5 hours at 250.

Thanks I'm trying to find different things that will improve the taste. I thought about trying those injection seasonings and injecting it into the chicken to see if that would be good.

I've never heard of it but if it gives chicken a good flavor I'm going to add it to my list to pick up. I'm really tired of bland chicken. I love trying new things.

I like to add fresh basil to chicken..Rosemary is good also..I gently life the skin and insert the fresh herb between the meet and the skin..

I have taken fresh lemon or oranges and used the juice as a marinade but put the 1/2 or 1/4 sections into the bird along with some butter and sage.

I make a marinade using canned papaya juice as a base..will add some pineapple juice along with garlic, salt peppers..This will give a sweet crispy texture to the skin when the sugars carmelize (sp?)...and also a lot of juicyness to the meat.

Sage is wonderful with chicken.

A trick I learned from our son is to use white wine mixed with melted butter. This not only keeps the everything moist, it gives it a wonderful flavor and the chicken or turkey will be a deep golden brown.

I use Italian dressing and just inject the chicken with it. I think it tastes good that way.

I've never heard of using wine I bet it would give it a different flavor.

Try it sometime. It doesn't have to be a costly wine but get one that you can drink. Last time I used that wine with the kangoroo on it. Sorry, mind is not working right now because I haven't been to bed yet. You can drink what's left of use it to make shrimp scampi.

I have ate it with the italian dressing too and that is very good.

I sometimes use Italian dressing, Mrs. Dash, have used KC Masterpiece Spiced Carribean Jerk marinade, but didn't really care for that one, and sometimes use poultry seasoning.
