first I chipped a tooth the weekend of July 4th...x-rays, cleaning done, crown to be placed August 3rd to the tune of $1800 with about $1150 out of pocket cost.

Then 15yo son has to have deviated septum surgery (like I did in Feb) about December, Christmas break, after allergy testing and control to the tune of about $1600 out of pocket cost.

Today my nearly 12 yo Fridge took a dump and I need to shoot it out of it's misery... to the tune of who knows but likely $1000 to $1500.

Make that about $2100 for a decent fridge with 5 year service (new fridges are computerized for energy usage etc) that covers all check-ups, repairs, $250 in food loss per year (beyond my own homeowners insurance too). Plus the cheapest I could find, comparatively from my soon to be dead fridge was $1800... DAMB.

should be delivered on Monday.

I feel yor pain;
I broke off part of my tooth in 2 places yesterday.
We don't have dental ins and I hate the thought of going to the dentist to get it pulled.

Then I have a female problem and I hate dr's. Haven't been to one in a while. I don't think I want to know what they my find. Not to mention the cost!

Yep....it sure does. Especially since Delta Dental only allows for $800 per person per year of coverage. So...I guess the moral to Delta Dental coverage is..."don't need anything other than cleaning cuz we are gonna ****** you and yours over."

Actually it was $1649 for a bottom freezer unit plus $500 for 5 years of service that homeowner's doesn't touch. Still to get a decent fridge that should last, it is expensive.

But at least I got 11 years and 9 months to the day of service on my GE from ABC Warehouse...but will never buy from them again....my other appliances from them only lasted about 5-6 years.

We need a new refrigerator but I sure wasn't expecting to pay that much. I guess it will have to wait.

You can get a new good brand fridge for a lot less than that.

Sure you can. With minimal features and no more than a one year warranty. You get what you pay for. Sometimes buying a higher priced/better quality appliance is the smarter thing to do. For example, in my younger years, I bought 5 washing machines that cost under $200 each-- and ended up with the transmission going out on every one of them in less than two years. I bought one washing machine that I paid just a little over $500 for-- and it's been going strong for several years without a single problem. You'd have thought I'd have learned that lesson sooner. Appliances are one thing you don't want to choose cheap. :)
