I know none of you are doctors and I cannot see my own doc until he gets back and I don't know where my gastroenterologist went so I have to find a new one which is going to be fun.. And I know there is a nurse or 2 here.
Does anyone here have acid reflux disease or GERD? and if so do you get these weird heart palpitations when you get heart burn that goes up into your throat..?
I have acid reflux disease but I don't remember having this feeling.. I mean I may have and forgotten about it b/c with the fibro you tend to forget some stuff that you feel since you feel a lot of crap.
There is nothing wrong with my heart, I am positive about that. I have had that checked out so many times because of my anxiety and costochondritis that I was ending up in the ER frequently because I thought I was having a heart attack. Plus my heart gets checked every time I am at the doc. I also check my pulse for irregularities when this happens and that's doesn't change when I get the fluttery feeling. I've had this feeling for 2 days now. I took a zantac at about 10am and that didn't seem to help much. It got rid of the heart burn but that was it..Other than that I feel fine...No chest pain, no tingling just the fluttering
Anyone else get this.. Or am I the only odd duck?

Don't have that, but have had some killer heartburns where it felt like my heart is flying out of my chest. Does your doc's office or insurance plan have a nurse hotline or something that you can call just to see what they think?

I used to get it, just like you're saying. Doc finally put me on Prolisac (sp) and have been doing great since. It used to be so bad that sometimes I couldn't eat, the food wouldn't go down.

Yes my sister has GERD and she has the heart palpations with it often times. She has even awakened thinking she was dying so yes that is a problem that goes together.

I called the NP at my docs office a few minutes ago and she was having issues with the computer system to pull up my file. She said it sounds like it could be from my stomach to my throat and it bypasses the heart but has nothing to do with my heart.. But then she said she is not positive b/c she can't see my file .She wasn't comfortable with giving any definite advice. She says if it persists or gets worse and painful to hop my self over to the ER. . My doc is returning tomorrow.
It's not painful or getting worse but really annoying the shiz out of me. My heartburn is always a painful experience and it seems like I have been having it more frequently..
I need to find an new GI doc....

I have GERD and IBS. The symptoms you described are exactly what diagnosed me in the first place. Top that with anxiety...
I take Elavil for anxiety, and Protonix daily and do not experiance any of those symptoms any more unless I am extremely stressed - then I just take the double dose of Elavil like the doctor ordered.
Personally I would write down when you have those feelings, along with what you have eaten just to track them for the doctor when you do get into see him.

I am on elavil for sleep disturbances and Klonopin for muscle and anxiety issues but I don't take those unless I need to.. I will start writing stuff down... I used to before I was dxed with fibro... I stopped b/c there was nothing really new after a couple years.. Thanks everyone :)

Protonix is great for the heartburn/GERD/indigestion issues. I rarely have breakthrough heartburn/indigeston unless I've had something particuliarly garlicy or loads of onions.
