I only worked an hour Wednesday and took Thursday off, I wanted to call in today but I don't have anymore sick days so I had to go in. Believe me I wish I would have called in anyway lol

Anyway I went to urgent care after work today and found out I have Bronchitis and Sinusitis. She put me on a steroid pack and antibiotic and a cough med.

Does anyone know if after I take the meds if I will still be contagious? Another lady at work went to dr a couple of weeks ago and she was told she had bronchitis and dr told her after 24 hours on antibiotic she was not contagious, is that true? I have never heard that before. I meant to ask dr but when she was in there I was so tired I could hardly keep my eyes open and forgot.

Generally speaking, after being on antibiotics for a full 24 hours you should not be contagious, and it should be safe to go back to work. I hope you feel better!:nurse:

My doc says 3 full days of antibiotics before going around other ppl. Maybe she is over cautious... that's fine w/ me.

I had never heard that before, and when I heard her say that I really didn't think anything of it till I got it lol Thank you for confirming what she had said.

Did they determine that your bronchitis was bacterial or viral? If it is bacterial you should be good after 24 hours. If it is viral, then the antibiotics are not even helping with that, but as long as you take precautions you should be ok as far as spreading it to others.

I went through the whole bronchitis thing back in February, when someone in my class had it and thought that just because she was on antibiotics that she didn't have to take any precautions (i.e. handwashing, covering mouth when coughing, properly disposing of used tissues) almost the whole class ended up with it, and on a few of us it advanced into sinus infections.

All she put on the paper works that it was acute bronchitis.
