All I can say is, "what were they thinking" They might say it was geared toward adults, but why would they use a kids chartoon character to do it?

I hope BK fires whoever is doing their advertising. Evidentally they have offended with another of their ads, they pulled that one, they havent the Sponge Bob one yet as far as I can tell:

This one didnt offend me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wYAzIqt4rc

Yea the first time I saw that commercial i said wth? An its on a million times a day its unbelievable that they put that out there. And I dont care if they say its geared towards adults, its about the KIDS TOY IN THE KIDS MEAL therefore its for kids.

My husband refuses to go to BK after seeing that commercial. He is very open minded, and can get vulgar with the best of them, but he says if they want to project that kind of smut geared towards kids, they wont have our money to do it. We have kids, and they aren't going to be exposed to that pure and utter crap.

Full video, I think I am even more offended if that is possible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5X4TSbGreA&feature=player_embedded

I haven't been to BK since the "king' was introduced. Creepy Mo'fo.

Here, they now only show that version of the ad during prime time and a slightly edited one during the day.

If everyone had square butts (and different music/lyrics)....I could deal with it...maybe...but it's disgusting...what were they thinking? :stunned

I think it's Quizno's that has an ad with the bread oven talking to the guy. That one is different at night than the one they show during the say also.

The ad's nasty, tasteless, the king is nasty (and creepy)....I think they should hire the firm that does Target ads. I tape my tv shows so I don't have to watch ads and if I'm watching in real time, I surf so as to avoid ads...I really go out of my way not to be annoyed but the Target ads are so well done, I almost don't mind watching them. Note, I said almost.

That's the prime time one, but at 1st, it aired during the day also. After a lot of complaints, they now show an edited version during the day.

"Say what you will about the disturbing implications of this Quiznos ad from Nitro, but you'd be hard-pressed to forget the point: that Quiznos has foot-long meat tubes just waiting to be jammed in the hotbox for you. Oh, and they're $4. The talent deserves credit for squeezing a lot of subtle acting into a 30-second space. If you don't believe me, check out the guy's reaction when the oven says, "Put it in me, Scott." If those aren't the eyebrows of a man being propositioned by a horny appliance, I don't know what are. UPDATE: A slightly sanitized, less sexualized version of the ad is airing in earlier timeslots."

I find it pretty funny myself... but I do not have kids and would probably feel differently if I did.

Ok... and the quiznos one... roflmao.

BTW... if you look at the comments under the yahoo article in the OP, a lot of those parents find it hilarious and have no problem with it.

Well obviously... since I pretty clearly said I have no kids and would probably feel different if I did... I did not miss the point of the commercial.

I buy kids meals for ME! :D

Neither offend me, the BK one is stupid and the Quiznos one is funny, but it's wasn't very funny trying to explain it to my DD when she didn't get it after seeing it air during lunch one day.

Ok I must be in the minority here but the BK one I did not find offensive at all..well other than the creepy king.

The first time I saw the Quizno one, hubby and I just jerked our heads around and looked at each other like " did you just catch that?" I had to go on youtube and track it down to make sure I heard it right.

Well we don't see Quizno's ads here...or if we do they're never on when I'm watching TV.

The Spongebob one I thought was funny. I do agree that the "King" is really kind of creepy. I can't remember where it was, but one BK had a promotion going where you could get your picture taken with him. I thought for sure people would have nightmares...and the "King" masks are very creepy.

Burger King hasn't exactly been known for their good taste in their advertising these last few years, but that is even worse than their Big Buckin' Chicken campaign.

So we need to add the King to your list of things that creep you out? Along with Smurfs, Clowns and Flying Monkeys? LOL

I thought it was stupid and I can't stand the King, he is completely creepy and surreal. My kids however thought the spongebob commercial was hysterical and they didn't think anything weird, just thought it was funny that everyone had squarepants like spongebob.

And LMAO at the quiznos one.

whats so offensive about it? If you don't like it, change the channel.

04-16-2009, 11:53 AM
I can and do change the channel problem is it airs on childrens cartoon channels that are in other rooms, I think its a little too much for the age group that Spongebob attracts. And no I am not a prude, far from it but between the kings flat out creepiness him checking out sqare butts makes it doubly creepy/innapropriate for my children.

I dont think either commercial is offensive, from the tex mex, to the spongebob to the quiznos. of course I am a adult. My kids have been listening to the I like big butts song for years, so they jam along with it. the youngest are 10. I do think the quiznos is a little bit more for mature people, but unless you have a dirty mind ( like I do) you can get something dirty from it. I think nowdays people are just way too easily offended about everything. Your kids probably know a lot more about sex than you do, and at a lot earlier age. Back when we were young, we didnt even know what oral sex is- now its all over the place.
My question is how in the heck does the BK king creep anybody out?? Its a guy in a costume

Oh I understand-- hey to each their own. I am just saying I dont see what's creepy about it.. wanted someone to elaborate. I think its ugly, but not creepy. I guess I am weird. The only thing that really creeps me out is snakes. and my oldest son who is almost 18 and quite the athletic jock and a badass is freaked out over spiders and will wake ANYONE up - including his 10 yr old sister to squish them for him.
