My 17 yr old DJ gave blood for the first time today.. I didn't know he was going to b/c he never mentioned the school blood drive. Apparently if you're 17 and over you can give blood.

I am wicked proud of him right now :D

As a previous donor and recipient I thank your son very much. I can no longer give since I've received a transfusion myself. One of the rules. Aggie can't either since he's lived overseas.

He is helping to save a lot of lives. I know you're proud.

WTG to him....and yep I don't know about other states but in South Dakota as long as they are 17, 110lbs or more and in good health they are eligible to donate with out needing a parents consent.

Way to go DJ. My Steven started donating blood in highschool and he still continues to do so today. Its such a wonderful feeling knowing your child is so compassionate. Again, Way to go DJ!!!
