Who has read this? I have a homework assignment to analyze the figurative conflicts in this, but I am really not getting this.

I am thinking that the conflict may be identity, because the story states that "Everything about her had two sides, one for home and one for anywhere that was not home". I am thinking this is kind of a coming of age thing, and that the "at home" identity is her as a child, while the not at home identity is the adult her. And that Connie leaving with Arnold is the resolution?

But it doesn't quite make sense, what am I missing?

I found that too, but from what little I read it was not accurate in some aspects.

I don't think that Connies mother thought that she was ugly, just that she needed to act more responsible like her sister.

Thanks for looking though!

Here is the actual story if anyone wants to read it...
