I've complained of my own issues alot, concussion at work in October, short term memory loss, went away, got lost coming home from work in January, Short term disability in January approved for 1 week, then waiting on more information...its drawn out, we are now behind on reecent, less than a month, paid $500 extra towards it last month, still owe over $300 more, I still can't drive very far away from home because I become disoriented without warning. I could go on forever complaining about me....but not tonight.

My husband is diabetic, CHF, 2 heart attacks, disabled, etc. He has had a foot ulcer for over 2 months, I think maybe over 3. I cant remember. The doctor wanted it to heal from the inside out, so he had to go every week for a while to have it scraped, bandaged, etc. And strict orders to stay off of it, any pressure prohibited healing. Well, because of staying down and inactive, he got a blood clot. He is still on 10 mg Coumadin a day. Then last week FINALLY everything seemed to be getting better. Numbers for blood clot were better, went further between lab visits (in fact today was first visit in a week). Foot Specialist said he could go a month till his next visit. THEN, he couldn't sleep so was taking his bath for the day, looked down--and tub water was bloody. The foot ulcer burst open....and it looks infected again (how, I have no idea...it looked fine last night) We called Nurse line at hospital, have got the bleeding to stop, and am waiting for the doctors office to open so we can get him in to be seen in a few hours. I swear....it never, ever stops....

You have no idea how much I have wondered this myself! Two years ago when he had an ulcer on the bottom of his foot, he had surgery, had to heal from inside out due to MRSA infection, and was in regular hospital and rehab hospital a total of 3 months. Then when he had a blood clot before, he was also in hospital.....so Im not sure what the difference is now...same insurance, etc.

Thank you ALL for replys, and responses.

be EXTREMELY careful with Coumadin!! It has a HISTORY of record deaths --- many lawsuits against the drug company because of it. It is responsible for the death of my Mother and the death of my Grandfather!!

PLEASE be VERY, VERY careful with this drug...one mistake can lead to death.

"Blood thinners are second only to chemotherapy drugs in having the highest risk of serious treatment-related complications," the site states. "Some common potential side effects are nosebleeds, bleeding in the gums, unusual bleeding while shaving, and easy bruising."

Warfarin is one of the drugs with the most reported adverse events. The FDA cites research showing warfarin alone accounts for 15% of severe drug side effects and that for every 100 patients on the drug, there are between one and seven major bleeding events.
