DH quit on New Years. But I'm still smoking though. I will smoke one for you, just like I do for DH lol. Problem solved!!
You are doing great!! Keep it up before you know it, it will be 42 days instead of hours. Did you just go cold turkey? That's what DH did. He says do something to break that train of thought. He eats, but he can afford to gain some weight. Go for a walk, read or maybe you do crafts. He even says doing a puzzle or a nap will help. Something to occupy your hands and mind. It will pass.
Good luck hun, you can do it!!

My mom quit after smoking for 20 years, my grandmother after smoking 40, they chewed sugarless gum which helped with their oral fixation. It worked =) PS congradulations, you should be really proud of yourslf

When does the " urge " go away?

It depends on the person... My mother quit in Oct and still has the 'urge'. If I am at a bar I get the urge as well and I quit 6 and a half years ago..

But once you quit and smell it later on it will turn your stomach and you won't want to :)

For me the urge comes when I'm really stressed or have triggers like going to the casino and having a drink. It's been 26 months since I quit. The hardest thing for me was getting into a car to drive. I used to always light up when I drove. I still miss the cigarette when I finished my day at work.
On a good note, you don't always gain weight when you quit. I didn't gain a pound. Chewing gum or hard candy helped with that.

Hate to tell you that the "urge" never goes away, but it does get easier. When I quit I stayed in bed and slept for about 3 or 4 days. I was also told to drink alot of water and take a daily vitiman. I was also a total B*tch when I quit thats why I stayed in bed. I quit 12/28/05 (had to dig out my credit card statment to see when I quit) it does seem longer than that. Your almost over the hardest part because the first 48 hours was the hardest for me. You can do!!! Just remember smoking is a no no now :nono

good job on that long! Its like any other addiciton. Mind over matter.
Once you "train" yourself to do without it will get easier. Good luck!!

Friday was my last day smoking. The first 48 hours I was twitchy and right about 42-48 hours into it I thought I was going to explode. I woke up the next day and haven't really thought about them.

Keep going, it does get easier.

Colorado has a quit line. They give your four weeks of patches and counselling to help you through it, along with coupons.

The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust is pleased to offer the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline, a FREE service for all Oklahomans with a desire to stop smoking or using other tobacco products.

Through the Helpline callers receive one-on-one "quit coaching," specialized materials, and referrals to community resources. Callers interested in receiving follow-up can enroll in the Helpline¿s multiple call program in which they will receive a series of telephone based coaching sessions with the same Quit Coach throughout their quitting process.

Participants in the multiple call program may also receive free nicotine patches, or gum, or they may be referred to their health insurance plan or health care professional for additional treatment.

We realize that many Oklahomans are without insurance coverage, and that many others may have a health plan that does not cover these products. In an effort to assist those individuals, we will be working with employers and health plans to promote full coverage of cessation services, and with pharmaceutical companies to seek opportunities to make cessation aids more affordable.

If you'd like to quit tobacco, we invite you to begin your journey with this quality, professional service, and give yourself every chance to make this quit attempt a successful one!
