MARQUETTE, Mich. - A Michigan woman with two wombs has given birth to twin daughters -- one from each uterus.
The Mining Journal and WLUC-TV report that Sarah Reinfelder's two healthy babies were delivered seven weeks premature Thursday by cesarean section at Marquette General Hospital in the Upper Peninsula.
The 21-year-old Sault Ste. Marie woman has a condition known as uterus didelphys, and doctors say such twin births are rare. The uteri are different sizes, with the larger twin born from the larger uterus.
Dr. Connie Hedmark and Dr. Breanna Pond first delivered Kaylin Joy, then Valerie Marie, the larger twin by one pound. Kaylin Joy weighed 3 pounds, 15 ounces.
Neonatologist Julie Frei says she expects that the twins, who don't have fully developed lung function, likely will be hospitalized for three or four weeks.
Sarah and Shane Reinfelder also have a son, William, 10 months.

I'd be pulling his hair out, lol, it would be more productive, and a major stress reliever.

I have a friend with a double uterus. When she was pregnant with her daughter, she kept having a period every month and they checked her out. Come to find out, she was pregnant in one uterus and having her period from the other.

It's hard enough to be pregnant but to have your period too? Now that's just not fair!!

I thought the same thing at first, then realised it was 3 months. Someone needs to smack the daddy.
LOL, it is still sad. She should have had at least a good year before getting preggers again. Her poor body didnt even have a chance to bounce back.
I wonder about her periods? I wonder how bad it is. Does she have a period from one uterus one month, and the other the next. or both at the same time or how all that works? Do her ovaries each connect to just one uterus? This is just a very unusual condition.
Wow talk about crazy lol Glad they are doing so well though for being early

My boys are 13 months apart (had my 1st then 3-4 months later pregnant again), and honestly I wouldn't have had it any other way. The boys are best buds. Diapers got expensive thats for sure so I am really feeling for this girl.
