I regretted not having the braces on my teeth as a teen. I did it in my 20's and paid my insurance covered $2200 and my parents paid $500. and I was left with $500 (they felt bad they didn't do it before)

my brother in late 30's just got his off last month.

my 8 year old has to get wires and treated and the braces for:$4200.
insurance will cover $1500 only
I will get a referral discount $400 off - my sisters 9 year old and 8 year old go there also.

so I need to pay $500 cash to begin services and $1800 during services in the next 1 1/2 years. dam $4200 is alot of money!

ouch. There goes vacation money luxuries.

my oldest child teeth are perfect. She is getting a new game this week while the youngest gets to earn it with each appointment success in the coming weeks

I've already been told my youngest will need braces. He is only 7 so he has to lose the rest of his baby teeth for them to start the process. We have 6 kids and only one other has had to have braces and yes they are very expensive.

DS had braces 10 years ago and back then insurance paid 50%. We had to pay $2600 out of pocket. The retainer and all office visits were included in the price. The cost depends on what type of braces you have. DS had the bracket type.

The quote we got a few months ago for my daughter's braces was $5500. That was for everything.

Yep. Thats what I was quoted last year for my 15 yr old. Thats WITH the "family discount" since my oldest had braces there too. I asked(only half jokingly) if I could start paying for Sophie's now, too....(shes 5, btw)

My 11yr. old son got braces last year and it cost us $4995. We had to come up with $1200 right off the bat and then the rest in installments.

Both of my boys had braces due to overbite and the other underbite. They were $10,000.00 plus. They have 2 insurances one through their father and the other with us. Initially I paid $300 out of pocket but they gave it back to me. So we got 2 sets of braces for free...woo hoo!!! It is ridiculous what they charge for braces.

Daughter #1: $4500 in 2003
Daughter #2: $6000 in 2008 (same doc, too)

Our insurance paid $1500 for each.

Silver Lining: The 2 boys don't need braces.

wow I Had NO idea braces got so much money. I knew they were very pricey. But not that pricey. Good luck to everyone who has to dole out that kind of cash. I can't imagine if you don't have any ins. Isn't there any type of programs that can help?
