Myers' `Love Guru' proves endearing at Razzies
David Germain, Ap Movie Writer – 1 hr 10 mins ago

LOS ANGELES – Voters for 2008's worst movies love Mike Myers. They really love him.

Myers' comedy flop "The Love Guru" led the field Wednesday for the Razzies with seven nominations, among them worst picture and worst-acting slots for Myers, Jessica Alba, Verne Troyer and Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley.

The number of nominations for "Love Guru" was appropriate given what a personal project it was for Myers, who not only starred but also co-wrote and produced the movie, said John Wilson, founder of the Razzies, an Oscar spoof that dishes out "dis-honors" for the lousiest stuff Hollywood dredged up the previous year.

"This is one of those auteur-of-the-awful situations," Wilson said. "I think people are tired of him in general. He hasn't really made a good movie in quite some time."

The other worst-picture contenders were "Disaster Movie" and "Meet the Spartans," Hollywood spoofs that shared a nomination for a "badly beaten dead horse of a concept"; the fright flick "The Happening"; Paris Hilton's romantic comedy bomb "The Hottie & the Nottie"; and the sword-and-sorcery fantasy "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale."

Razzie "winners" will be announced Feb. 21, the day before the Oscars.

Hilton had three nominations, worst actress and worst screen couple alongside her co-stars in "The Hottie & the Nottie," plus worst supporting actress for "Repo! The Genetic Opera."

Eddie Murphy, named worst actor, supporting actor and supporting actress last year for multiple roles in "Norbit," has two nominations this time, as worst actor and screen couple alongside himself for dual roles in his sci-fi comedy dud "Meet Dave."

Cameron Diaz also picked up two Razzie nominations for the romance "What Happens in Vegas," as worst actress and worst screen couple alongside co-star Ashton Kutcher.

Along with Kingsley, Oscar winner Al Pacino had a worst-actor nomination for his crime thrillers "88 Minutes" and "Righteous Kill."

The stars of the remake "The Women" — Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith and Meg Ryan — shared a worst-actress nomination. Joining them, Alba, Diaz and Hilton in the worst-actress category was Kate Hudson for "Fool's Gold" and "My Best Friend's Girl."

Besides Murphy, Myers and Pacino, worst-actor nominees were Larry the Cable Guy for "Witless Protection" and Mark Wahlberg for "The Happening" and "Max Payne."

"In the Name of the King" filmmaker Uwe Boll had three nominations for 2008 movies, worst director for that flick and "1968: Tunnel Rats" and "Postal," supporting actor for playing himself in "Postal" and screen couple alongside "any actor, camera or screenplay."

Boll — whose movies include such horror or action tales as "Bloodrayne," "Alone in the Dark" and "House of the Dead" — also was selected by Razzies voters to receive a special prize for worst career achievement as "Germany's answer to Ed Wood," the legendary bad filmmaker responsible for "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

"It's pretty insulting to Ed Wood. Although Wood didn't understand how to splice two frames together, there was a joy of incompetence in his work," Wilson said. "Uwe Boll's like our Meryl Streep. As long as he continues to work, he will get nominated, just like Meryl Streep does with those other awards."

Bullock, 'Transformers' make Razzies worst list

LOS ANGELES – Sandra Bullock warmed up for the Academy Awards with a stop at the Razzies to collect a dubious honor: a worst-actress prize for her romantic comedy flop "All About Steve."

Bullock swung by the Razzies on the eve of her expected triumph at Sunday's Oscars, where she is considered the favorite to win best actress for "The Blind Side." If she wins Sunday, Bullock will be the first person to win an Oscar and a Razzie over the same weekend.

"I think this is an extraordinary award," said Bullock, who had promised throughout awards season that if she won the Razzie, she would accept it in person. "And I didn't realize that, in Hollywood, all you had to do was say you'd show up, and then you'd get the award. If I'd known that, I would have said I was appearing at the Oscars a long time ago."

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was picked as last year's worst picture and won two other Razzies, worst director for Michael Bay and worst screenplay for Ehren Kruger, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

Bay and his team probably will not lose any asleep over it. Though reviled by critics, "Transformers" took in $402.1 million domestically, No. 2 on the 2009 box-office chart behind "Avatar."

Bullock, who also shared the Razzie for worst screen couple with "All About Steve" co-star Bradley Cooper, was the first acting winner to show up at the Razzies since Halle Berry won worst-actress for "Catwoman" five years ago.

As she took the stage, Bullock pulled a little red wagon filled with DVDs of "All About Steve," saying she was giving a copy to everyone in the audience of about 300.

Bullock implied that many Razzie voters had not actually seen the movie but cast ballots for her hoping to get her to show up at the awards. Bullock said if they watched the DVD — "I mean really watch it" — and decided it was not the worst performance of the year after all, then she would come back next year and "give back the Razzie. ... then we'll go drink afterwards."

The worst-actor Razzie went to siblings Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas for "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience."

The Jonas' pal Miley Cyrus, star of "Hannah Montana: The Movie," lost the worst-actress category to Bullock. But her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, was named worst supporting actor for the big-screen "Hannah Montana."

Sienna Miller received the worst supporting-actress Razzie for the action tale "G.I. Joe."

Will Ferrell's action comedy flop "Land of the Lost" had come in tied with "Transformers" for the Razzies lead with seven nominations, but it was nearly shut out in every category.

Once ballots had been counted from the roughly 650 Razzies voters, "Land of the Lost" was tied for the group's worst remake, rip-off or sequel prize. Razzies founder John Wilson, who always votes last, gave the tie-breaking vote to "Land of the Lost."

"It really did stink and I thought, well, it ought to get something, because it is a very bad movie," Wilson said.

Razzie voters also made worst-of-the-decade picks, with John Travolta's science-fiction debacle "Battlefield Earth" winning worst picture.

Among all-time Hollywood dreck, "Battlefield Earth" is "like the 800-pound mongrel gorilla in the room," Wilson said. "It's one of my favorite type of bad movies. It's so bad, it's entertaining, in ways that the people who made it had no idea it would be."

Paris Hilton was chosen as the decade's worst actress for movies such as "The Hottie and the Nottie" and "Repo: The Genetic Opera." Eddie Murphy, a 2009 Razzie nominee for "Imagine That," was named the decade's worst actor for such bombs as "The Adventures of Pluto Nash," "I Spy" and "Meet Dave."

I love that she showed up & had a good time with it. I love her!
I'm embarassed to say that I did see All About Steve, and it wasn't that she was bad in it, its just that the story-line was so bad! I can't believe I sat thru the whole movie.

I do love her ... and this shows that she ( and Hallie ) have such a great attitude. I didn't see the movie ... but even a great actor can do so much with BAD material.

Sandra Bullock Asked to Return Razzie Statue
http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/movie-talk-sandra-bullock-asked-to-return-razzie-statue.html
The co-founder of the Razzie Awards has taken to the media to ask Sandra Bullock to return the award she won last month for Worst Actress.

"We are ready to take the unprecedented step of asking a winner to return a Razzie," John Wilson, the awards co-founder, told the UK's Telegraph newspaper.

Lest you think this gesture has anything to do with her recent personal-life strife, think again: the Razzie judges haven't changed their mind about Bullock's performance in "All About Steve" - they just want the actual trophy back.

It seems they got so caught up in the moment that instead of giving Bullock the intentionally cheap (it's worth a whopping $4.79), spray-painted replica of the award that all winners receive, the Razzies organizers say they inadvertently handed Bullock the original 30-year-old award. Given its age and rarity, the original has much more value as a collector's item.

Mr. Wilson explained the confusion to the Telegraph: "As Sandra was in such a rush after winning Worst Actress she ran off with the original handmade prototype which has been present at ceremonies since the 1980s."

Bullock famously showed up to accept her Worst Actress award for her role in the box-office bomb, "All About Steve," bringing with her hundreds of "Steve" DVDs and promising to return the award if the Razzie judges changed their minds after watching the movie. The next day, Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar for "The Blind Side," making her the only person ever to win both an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year.

Worst Picture Snubs:

I Kissed a Vampire: The Rock Musical. (We didn’t see it. We just know.)

The Babymakers. (Misleading title. Wasn’t like any porn I’ve ever seen.)

The Devil Inside. (It ended mid-car-crash. The movie was a literal car crash.)

‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ takes 7 Razzie Awards including Worst Picture
By Matt McDaniel | Yahoo! Movies Oscars Blog – Sat, Feb 23, 2013 11:18 PM EST

Oh, there are going to be some angry Twi-hards out there tonight.

The 33rd Annual Razzie Awards saluting the worst Hollywood had to offer in 2012 were handed out Saturday, the night before the Oscars. And in a surprise move that's sure to raise the hackles of its legion of fans, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" was given seven awards, including Worst Picture. The one blockbuster hit to be nominated, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" beat out the box-office bombs "Battleship," "That's My Boy," "A Thousand Words," and "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure."

In addition, the final chapter of the "Twilight" series took home Worst Actress for star Kristen Stewart (she was nominated both for playing Bella Swan and for "Snow White & the Huntsman"), Worst Supporting Actor for Taylor Lautner, Worst Director for Bill Condon, Worst Screen Ensemble, and Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel. Lautner also shared Worst Screen Couple with Mackenzie Foy, who played the half-vampire offspring Renesmee.

Kristen Stewart wasn't in attendance to accept her award in person like previous "honorees" Halle Berry (Worst Actress winner in 2004 for "Catwoman") or Sandra Bullock, who won the Razzie for Worst Actress for "All About Steve" in 2009 the night before she won the Oscar for Best Actress for "The Blind Side." Stewart is scheduled to be a presenter at tomorrow night's Academy Awards.

A few "Twilight" stars did dodge bullets in their respective categories, though. Robert Pattinson, who "lost" the Worst Actor trophy to Adam Sandler for "That's My Boy." Sandler has taken it two years running now, receiving both Worst Actor and Worst Actress last year for "Jack & Jill." Ashley Green also avoided getting the Golden Raspberry for Worst Supporting Actress. It instead went to Rihanna for her screen debut in the big-budget board game adaptation "Battleship."

Perhaps the luckiest man of the night was Tyler Perry, who didn't win any of the six awards he was up for, including Worst Actor and Worst Actress (for "Madea's Witness Protection").

This is the first time a "Twilight" film has been given the Razzie for Worst Picture, though previous installments "Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" were nominated. And the piling on "Part 2" with 7 awards does seem a little unfair. The reviews weren't that bad for this last installment, with RottenTomatoes giving it a 48% positive (just down from the original film's 49%, but a big improvement over the 24% "Part 1" received). In comparison, Eddie Murphy's "A Thousand Words" has a 0% positive rating. Perhaps the Razzies felt that since they wouldn't have another chance to sock it to the "Twilight" series, they really wanted to make it count.

Seeing as how "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" has already made $828 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing installment of the series (which has earned over $3.3 billion at the box office), it seems the fans have already made their opinion about the quality of the movie known. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" will be out on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download on March 2.

‘Transformers,’ Melissa McCarthy, Nicolas Cage Among 2015 Razzie Nominees
TheWrap - Jason Hughes - 14 hrs ago

The 35th annual Golden Raspberry Awards (better known as the Razzies) nominations are out, and it was a not a good year for "Transformers," which led the field with seven nominations.

Kirk Cameron was well-represented as well with six nominations. The remake of his "Left Behind" series got nominations for its new star Nicolas Cage, and for Worst Picture. It must compete with "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas," as well as "The Legend of Hercules," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction."

While she wasn't in the latest "Transformers" film, Megan Fox still earned a nod for Worst Supporting Actress for her work in "TMNT." She'll square off against her "Transformers" replacement Nicola Peltz, just as Cameron will square off against Cage for Worst Actor.

Adam Sandler, a perrennial Razzie favorite, is up for Worst Actor for his performance in "Blended, while his co-star Drew Barrymore is up for Worst Actress, sharing the honor with Melissa McCarthy ("Tammy"), Cameron Diaz ("The Other Woman" & "Sex Tape"), Gaia Weiss ("The Legend of Hercules") and Charlize Theron ("A Million Ways to Die in the West")

Seth MacFarlane's western comedy is up for four awards, including Worst Actor (MacFarlane), worst director (MacFarlane) and Worst Screen Combo (MacFarlane and Theron). In the latter category, they'll face off against Cameron and his ego from "Saving Christmas," any two robots or actors from "Transformers," Diaz and Jason Segel in "Sex Tape," and Kellan Lutz and either his abs, pecs or glutes in "Legend of Hercules."

Showing its softer side, the Razzie debuts the Redeemer Award, singling out those stars who have picked themselves up from past Razzies glory and gone on to genuine critical acclaim. This year's nominees include Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Mike Meyers, Keanu Reeves and Kristen Stewart.

Kirk Cameron and Cameron Diaz, king and queen of Razzies
Kirk Cameron's 'Saving Christmas' wins 4 Razzies
Barbara Herman - 9 hrs ago

The organizers of the 35th annual Razzie Awards, the anti-Oscars that celebrate the worst of filmmaking, gave actor Kirk Cameron not one but four awards for his Christian-oriented family comedy, "Saving Christmas." Golden Raspberry Awards were given to the former "Growing Pains" star Saturday for worst picture, worst actor, worst screenplay and worst screen combo -- namely, Cameron and his ego -- Reuters reported.

"It has no cinematic value at all," Razzie founder Jim Wilson told BBC Radio 5, and he contended the world agreed with that assessment. Wilson said "Saving Christmas" was rated the worst movie of all time at the international movie database IMDb.com.

The bare-bones plot of "Saving Christmas" involves Cameron, well, Cameronsplaining to his brother-in-law why Christmas matters. Even a film reviewer at Screen It, which provides movie reviews for parents, described the film as "more like 'Explaining Christmas' and not in a particularly entertaining or well-made way."

"Saving Christmas" and Kirk Cameron were not the only Golden Raspberry Award recipients. Cameron Diaz was recognized as worst actress for both "The Other Woman" and "Sex Tape," while Megan Fox was named the worst supporting actress for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
