The U.S. Cellular store came up in my hotjobs on Yahoo last night so I filled out the online ap and attched my resume. I got an email today requesting a phone interview. I have an interview at 10:30 on Friday! I know its probably just their initial step, but any step right now feels promising!

Thanks for the prayers all, keep 'em coming!

I definitely will. This is a job I had actually considered applying for when I was offered the job I just lost. I needed something quick since 3M was getting rid of its temps, so I took the sure thing (sure thing at that moment anyway) so I knew I'd have a job.

I also have two resumes to drop off tomorrow if I can get to Omaha. Maybe, by some miracle, I'll have a job lined up to start by the time the kids go back from vacation.

Why is it that if you have even the teeniest amount of sales experience every insurance agency in a 100 mile radius bugs you? I got a job offer from UGA, 100% commission, of course. Its for an outside sales rep, have to use my own vehicle and pay to get licensed. That is several hundred dollars for the kit and testing.

Anyone here an insurance salesman/woman? The only thing I even like about the idea of working as an insurance agent is the flexibility of the schedule. But I am so under insured its not even funny! I am a really bad example of who to target for an insurance sales position.

Just a quick update. I think the phone interview went well, and I made it to the next step which is an online assessment. If I pass that I'll be sent a link to agree to a criminal background check. I guess it may just be 25-30 hours a week, but part-time is better than no time when you're unemployed! Thanks everyone, who has been pulling for me!

That's good to know, thanks for the update. You never know, part-time could turn into full-time, and if not, it's something until a better job comes along, whether it's in that company or with another one.

Jenefer, that's what I was thinking too. And like Mike said, even part time, if I'm as good as I think I am, the commission will make up for any difference between part-time and full-time pay. I've had experience with telephone service and upselling their products and services, and I know my supervisor will give me an awesome reference. When I knew 3M was getting rid of their contract workers I went to her and asked to be hired back on. The site manager said she really wanted me back, but Edge had incorporated a new rule about re-hires and I had to be gone a year before they would hire me back, even tho I left with a two week notice and stayed three weeks beyond that to help the team out because 4 people had all quit at the same time.

I think I could definitely be happy working there. I love dealing with people face to face, and I made some awesome commission at Edge from AT&T. Hey, and I even talked to sea_shell working there once :lol

I'm a little concerned about the rest of the ap. I went back over my resume and I had some dates screwed up, not bad, but it looks like I was working two full-time jobs for a few months and she warned me the dates needed to be accurate. And they do a credit check and my credit is crap since Mike lost his job last year. Not giving up on it, but not going to stop looking either. I sent my resume off to an insurance office that's looking for a secretary today, after I fixed it, of course.
