I received an email from the RNC Chairman today asking for input as to where the party should go. This is what I said. If you would like to tell the RNC your thoughts, send me a private message and I'll give you the link. I'm screening out the liberals. :)
My Party
The Republican Party needs to go back to what made it successful in the 1980s. The ideas were: Less taxes, less government regulation, less government spending, a strong military defense and a pro-life agenda. We need to think WWRD (What would Reagan do?). It's a proven model and one that is not overly complicated. If we continue down this RINO (Republican in Name Only) road where we are basically one that is Democrat-lite, we will further erode the conservative base.
2008 Election
We got killed in the 2008 election for two reasons:
1) We did not control federal spending. Bush, McCain and the GOP Senate killed the turnout for the conservative base (that Palin was starting to bring back) with their asinine support for a $800 billion bailout that may not work.
2) Our failure to secure our borders. Bush, McCain and the GOP Senate killed the turnout for the conservative base when they supported the Amnesty plan for illegal aliens in 2007.
GOP in the 21st Century
The GOP needs to turn back the tide of socialism and moral relativism that is sweeping this country, both of which will destroy it in the end. We need to stand up for democracies and free trade and stand up against the tyrants that want to destroy Western civilization, not become buddies with them.
New Faces of the GOP
The GOP needs to make Michael Steele the RNC Chairman and promote Governor Palin, Governor Jindal, and Congressman Bachman as much as possible. They are all conservative do not fit the white male stereotype. We need a conservative Hispanic to be front and center as well. Congressman Bonilla?
People like Gingrich, Romney and Huckabee need be part of the leadership but more behind the scenes since the party has been stereotyped as a white male party.
The Democrat Majority
We have to fight the Democrat Majority every chance we get. Their socialist agenda could do unrepairable damage to our economy.
