I know your not a vet.. but your the closest to one I know..:rolling
I have a question.
My dog has a spot on her back.. towards her tail.. and it itches her really bad.. she has scratched/bit it so much the hair is gone. It bothers her for it to be touched.
Any idea of something over the counter I can put on it for her to help with the itching? Going to a vet is not an option.. we are barely scraping by right now... no extra money for drs for us or her..lol
thanks
Tracy

It sounds like "hot spots". My Springer had that problem and we had a medicated shampoo that we had to wash her with 1x per week - and leave it on her for 10 minutes. Yeah that was so much fun. I had never heard of using Prep H or I would have tried it.

Ok, you aren't going to believe this.
Gold Bond Medicated Lotion - the green bottle.
Our shepherd gets hot spots cause she is sensitive to fleas and even though we keep flea meds on her. The lotion taste terrible to help keep her from chewing and also helps with easing the itching and helping with the itching. You can also use the medicated power, but the lotion is easier to put on the spot and makes less a mess.

Our dog Duke use to have this same problem with hot spots, until I started giving him these pills. Now he doesn't have any skin problem at all.

Sulfodene is what we always used, but recently got the free sample of K-9 Klearup off the freebie board, and it also seems to work really well.
