does anyone know if they expire? I have a few I cashed out probably about 9 months ago. Not sure really. they all get mixed in etc. So was wondering if they expire? I know i recall seeing something on the news last year about Gift cards at SOME stores expiring in a year. Which i think is BS. ANY insight?

I think some of them start charging a fee of some sort after a year, I'm not sure when they expire though. Some of the websites of the stores should give that info.

I heard the same thing. I'm calling in all my cards tomorrow (there's a phone number usually on the back of the card) to check the balances on the cards. I suggest you do so as well. Not to worry you or anything but I had a couple cards sent to me by a website as a reward which had not been activated...it took forever to get that straightened out!

The only ones I know of that do not expire would be the Red Lobster/Olive Garden (Darden) ones. They maintain all the money on that g/c. I had some that were a few years old, and they never lost a dime. Hope this helps.

You really need to check each one individually as they all have different rules. I know that some, after 2 years or something like that will, start deducting a %age of the dollar amount each year after year 2. Which is essentialy like a previous post said, applying a fee.

We were vacationing this summer in a vaction type town and tried to use a pizza hut gc. They first told us that our card wasn't working. When we pushed them that the card was fine because we checked it, they said that their system for reading the cards was "down". So we asked if we could pay now and come back tomorrow to be reimbursed for the GC and they said no.

Personally I think the individual store must absorbe some fee or something for the gc's and so decided that all their customers were tourists and will never be back anyways so just don't accept them. We emailed Pizza Hut to complain but of course, customer service as it is today...nadda response!

Lesson learned, if you have a GC, have them confirm that they are going to accept the card before you eat!! We were not pleased!

Maybe you'd have better luck with a compalint if you went through Planetfeedback. I've used it for complaints about Bob Evans and Red Lobster and got some very nice gc's. Any complaints about Walmart...well, it was acknowledged but nothing every came of them, Walmart being the type of store it is and all. Good luck!

It depends on the card..look on the card it should say somewhere either the expiration date or itll say it doesnt expire. And if youre not sure there should be a website or number to call for balance

PizzaHut is owned by Pepsi. If PizzaHut won't respond, get in touch with Pepsi because even if that PizzaHut is a franchise they still have to abide by the rules set by Pepsi.

Actually, that is the route I took. I've had success using plentfeedback in the past but to date it hasn't worked on this one.
