SEVEN free tickets! And the weekend before my son's birthday. I am more than pleased, especially with a good recommendation.

I've been there. A few years ago. The only thing I didn't like that was that my DD set the metal detector off and they patted her down. I think it was her hair barrettes that set it off. lol It is pretty good. We had free tickets that expired the day before labor day. We didn't use them.
I just looked at the calender, it is open weekends starting the 26th of September from 7pm to 1am for frightnights. I kinda thought they were closed for regular business but wanted to check. There is a disclosure about it not being recommended for children under 13. I don't know how old your kids are, or if they scare easy. I have never been to the haunted event.

I also grew up going to Kennywood Park - born and raised in Monroeville, PA. You'll have a GREAT time! My favorite thing about it is that they still have the old time arcade.

Kennywood is great! They have the old wooden coasters. I grew up going to Kennywood and miss being able to go there at the drop of a hat(now its a trip that needs planned etc).
Make sure you ride the Racer the Jackrabbit and the Thunderbolt, the best wooden ones around. Oh and do not leave there with out french fries from the potato patch(right by the thunderbolt). Not sure what they do to the fries but they are wonderful.
I hope you and your family have a great time, though i am envious.

Aussie has never been to Kennywood .. it's Idlewild that she goes too, but she wants to go to Kennywood. Sounds like you'll have a great time!

Haven't been there in 20 years. It was the senior class trip for our high school. They would go the day after the prom. I rode the thunderbolt but not the jackrabbit. The jackrabbit is supposed to be fast and I could barely handle the thunderbolt. Almost freaked out. My "friends" had me sit at the back.
Off topic, but I didn't realize how many of us are from that area around Pittsburgh. Born and raised in Washington, Pa.

There are a lot of us from the area around Pittsburgh and up into Erie.
I'll report back in after I am recovered from my roller coaster addiction and my french fry overload.

If you like the fires, you will have to top them off with the slab of ice cream in a rectangle cone, dipped in chocolate and rolled in chopped nuts............... HEAVEN!

I haven't been there in a few years. My kids say they are tired of the same thing.
