nothing gets me more aggravated than irresponsible pet owners.
It's no news that we live in a manufactured home community (all homes have pitched roofs nothing older than 1990), it's a beautiful park, until now.
NOW they decided to let people own dogs (could always own indoor cats). Fine.
BUT FOR GOD'S SAKES BE RESPONSIBLE!!!
Keep in mind these are trailers -- and no one has a "private" yard.
So jackazz neighbor gets a dog == no problem, tells me he is a boxer puppy (he is cute but BIG already)...
he starts out with the dog walking on leash, that lasted a whole 2 days tops.
Next thing I see, he has rope tied to his porch and to the tree at the end of his sidewalk....using it as a "runner" for the dog.
that didn't work because the dog kept getting tangled around tree.
Next, I look out my laundry room door and there are 2 cinderblocks in the middle of the yard with rope wrapped around it.... other end attached to the dog!!
That didn't work, he broke the rope...
so comes today -- the dog is just tied to his damn porch and is all tangled up and can't reach his food or water bowl (which by the way is the size you would give for a cat...not a dog)...which is near the front of the house, and not the side of the house where the porch is... I feel sorry for the animal, but it's not my responsibility to go untangle the animal!
So I call our park office...while I am on the phone, I watch the dog dig 4 holes in the middle of the lawn and then come over to MY house and schit next to my house and piss on my siding! WTF???
The neighbor is gone to work!!
So the park came out, and guess what... it's not a puppy .... it's not even a boxer!
IT'S A GROWN PITBULL!! It growled as soon as you walked near the house! Nope, it's gotta go or the neighbors gotta go. I have nothing against any animal, but I don't think they are responsible pet owners ... if they want animals like this BUY SOME PROPERTY...then it can dig all it wants.
and the "son" was home and he was told he has to clean up the dog crap and wash our siding and he had the nerve to tell the park "you can axe me but I's aints doin it". (high school much? Try English)
WTF???

I would call animal control. That is terrible, just chain the dog up. I'm sure animal control would consider that animal cruelty. They must have shelter, food and water. Plus I would have the park ask for copy of shot record, license and insurance on the dog. Here in Ohio that breed is considered a viscious breed and insurance is hard to get. And if you do find it, it's expensive. My home owners policy doesn't cover pit bulls.
That kid needs to be taught some manners.
And if they don't clean up after the dog call the Health Dept. If they don't pick up after the dog when it goes in someone else's yard, you can bet they aren't going to clean up their yard.
Just remember there is no bad dogs, just bad owners.

YES! YES! YES!
This is inexcusable.Obviously, this neighbor doesn't respect people or animals.I guess you can tell that by his ignorant, rude kid!

I agree with the above statments. Also, do you have a homeowners association that you can contact?
Take pictures if you can be quick enough of the dog on your property, as well as being in the yard tied up.

Some cities ban people from owning pit bulls within their limits - Detroit is one. I see you're in MI, but I'm not sure where. If pits are banned where you are, they will not only pick up the dog, but fine the owner as well. Good luck!

It is a state law that animal feces has to be cleaned up every 24 hours. I manage a mobile home community, so I know what I am talking about. It is obvious to me that your park manager either doesn't know what a pit bull looks like or never saw the dog and took the resident's word that it was mixed with boxer (I have had numerous residents try to get away with that). If I have any suspicion of the breed of the animal, they are not allowed to bring it into the community until I have a report from the vet as to what breed it is. If there is a drop of pit bull blood in the dog, is it not allowed here. All animals in our community are to be "inside" pets, tying them up outside is not an option. Residents must always be in attendance when the animal is outside of the home and it must be on a leash... I call animal control every time I see one unattended...believe me...it gets the point across when people start coming home to no animals.

G'ma what start are you in, I have never heard of that state law, I clean up after my dog ((we have a fenced in lawn)) and I follow him around with a pooper scooper or a bag /

I just took these pictures...
earlier when the park manager showed up, they were told to clean up the mess, fill in the holes and bring in vet proof that the dog is a boxer, that there is a no pit policy in place.
it appears no one is home again, but the dog is outside on a rope...and his water / food bowl is EMPTY!

That rope can't possibly restrain the dog properly. It would be very easy to chew through. Call animal control. If they won't come out, call the police (non emergency line) and let them know that you can't walk in your yard freely as the dog is possibly dangerous (a growling dog is nothing the take lightly).

GmaDebbie: can you post the Michigan Statute regarding the fecal cleanup? I can not find it in the statutes for Michigan Law.

Towards the bottom it states a little about excessive animal waste, even talks about water...whether it's accurate or up to date I'm not completely sure.
I've had a problem with our neighbors before also. I live in a townhouse w/a patio outback. Living in an apartment/townhouse complex we all know how close you are to your neighbors - Well, my "loving" neighbor had 2 HUGE dogs and would poop ALL over their patio, mind you our patios are only divided by wood fence. The smell this summer when it was hot outside made me gag - it probably made our flowers wilt (lol) Anyways, I complained to the management/owners multiple times finally it was cleaned up for a week. Obviously the neighbors with the dogs didn't care because they moved out in August (this month). Then I notice notes on their door about how they just moved out - violating the lease. ATLEAST THEY ARE GONE VIOLATING OR NOT!!

my thoughts:
1. it's not that great of a park by the looks of it so you can't expect much. if you live in a trailer park you live with the trash.
2. I hope they don't have insurance so if the dog does something oh eell. hall, you can drive with no insurance so why should they be responsible as well?
3. you have nothing better to do than take pictures of dog crap? gross.
4. get over it and go steal some more coupons.
Gee, did someone piss in your wheaties today? You signed up with this ID just so you could insult another member?
I think it looks like a very nice neighborhood and it is really rather rude of you to say it looks like trash and make such a generalization about people that live in a "trailer" park.
What are you? A nazi!!
Oops, did I just lose that argument?:dancing:

For starters, not everyone that lives in a trailer park is trash. I know that may be hard for you to believe, but please come down from your mansion made of gold and look around at us regular people.
Secondly, no matter where someone lives, mistreatment of animals is still considered cruel and tacky. If they can't take care of an animal, then they don't need to get it in the first place.
Thirdly (is that even a word?? LOL) Who pulled the string on your tampon??

Is there any kind of pitt bull rescue near you? Maybe you can arrange to have him rescued. I am also with whoever said to find him a new home while his owners are out. Freecycle?
That is a beautiful dog. I hate to see him tied up like that. Wish you were near here, I would try to help you find him a home.

Lorie, is there anyway you could make friends with him? Maybe toss him some of those hot dogs you have been collecting?
Oh and Mods, let the troll stay for a while. I made up a new game called Swat the Troll and want to try it out.
