I know I shouldn't be upset but I am. I know these things are free and whatever..but I am still a little sad.
I had posted a week ago for a wanted for a toddler bed, any condition, any style. I have the mattress but my daughter completly destroyed her's before I had my son so now I need a new one for him.
I didn't get any replies..which is normal and I am fine with that.
Then yesterday a women posts a Offer for a boy's racecar toddlerbed. I pounced as soon as the email came...like I was sitting here when the email popped up so I replied asap.
She emailed me today, just now infact, that the item was taken.

Im just bummed. I really need a toddler bed. My son is sleeping in a pack n play and he is just getting too big for it. I have the mattress but need the damn bed. GRRRRRRR

Sorry you didn't get the bed. Our freecycle rules tell us not to pick the first person that replies to the ad and to give people 24-48 hours to respond and then pick someone from those who replied. I usually pick the first person to reply because I want to get rid of the item and not have it hanging around. We've given a few things away over the last couple of weeks. The problem we seem to be having is people picking up on time. Two out of the last three things we put on freecycle were not picked up by the person who said they wanted it and then we had to go down the line to the next person. It gets to be a pain after a while.

I usually wait the 24 hours or so ... and I give it to the best "story". I never give to the people that send a one line "I want it" - it just comes off as greedy as it is usually the same few people and it doesn't matter what is being offered they want it - they want it all - and they want it now.

I offered a 1988 27" color RCA console in working condition with a remote.

Someone wanted to know if it was HD.

Hello ?? 1988 ??

It went to someone for their grandmother who's TV had gone out. I even got a nice handwriten thank you note. I don't usually give out my home address ... but they had to pick this thing up from my house.

I stopped asking for things on there a long time ago.I offer what I can when I have it.I really don't understand why they didn't just offer it to you first.I had to just buy my son one,When I am done with it I will offer but if someone is actually asking for it I would give it to them.

that really sucks.....I understand why you would be upset... It is never a good thing when you get your hopes up and then that hope is destroyed, even if its a free toddler bed. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, maybe theres an even better one out there for yoU!

I wish we lived closer I have a tube metal toddler bed as well as a blue race car bed to give away. I wish you lots of luck in getting one close to you.

I don't even read the wants anymore, not after I've seen people ask for things like cars (running and firly new only, no junk!), RV's and even a house (with land only, please), ask for things over and over again or be really specific in their asks (only in shades of mauve or pink). I think freecycle is a good idea but as usual, greedy people take over. I hope you find your toddler bed.

It might be better to have the mattress on the floor. Little kids tend to jump on the beds so it'll break anyways. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with putting the mattress on the floor.
