I sent a letter to our freecycle cafe here in Birmingham, Al. I got some responses from people here in Bham. But I also got this one. Read on. It is just such a crazy thing to happen.

Some of you may remember I placed a request looking for someone to work in my house helping me get stuff cleaned up and organized. Well I got an answer from someone . This is it.

hi i am interested in your add if its still availeable as i do homehelp and im also a volenteer for age concern so i have references and disclosure,unfortunatly im not sure of where homewood is??? but i drive so would not be a problem.thank you

I answered her and still she didn't know where Homewood was, even after I told her I lived not too far from Brookwood Hospital and on the other side near I-65.

Her reply is below

thank you for your reply but im afraid i still have no clue where you are so it must be quite far,my tom tom wont accept it either so that's no help, im in cradley heath b64 by merry hill. oh well i wish you luck in your search,thanks for considering me anyway.


I googled her address and started thinking it was England. I looked at her email address and it is
yahoo.co.uk Isn't this strange! We decided it was too far. But she received this email from the freecycle address I used

I know a lot of people sign up for freecycle lists thinking they are areas they aren't. I own the fremont Nebraska freecycle group and I get people from fremont California signing up all the time. But to sign up for a U.S. group when you are in England? Does your cafe group have a rule that you have to be a member of that area freecycle group before you can be on the list? Very weird!

I bet she thinks the freecycle group is in Birmingham, England. I think you would be kind to reply back to her and let her know that she is in contact with someone in the United states.
