posting pictures in deals

When I find a deal with something that needs a picture I can't post the picture like I used to. I found something on amazon that I wanted to post but it needed the picture with it. I can copy it and put in in an email but when I try to put it in the forum it won't take the picture. I am sure it used to but why won't it now?

When posting pictures here you have to save them to your computer and then upload them to a hosting site and then post them here.

If you right click on the picture, go down to properties, you will see the web address towards the middle. Just copy and paste that address into the photo thing here and it should work.

You really should save the picture to your computer first because if you don't it's considered stealing bandwidth.

That's called 'hotlinking' and it's not legal

If I see something on amazon and I want to put it here , doing what is suggested above that is described as hotlinking is illegal? Why it is helping sell the product for amazon so why would they object?

You can post the picture but you need to save it to your computer and then upload it at a hosting site such as photobucket. You are using someone elses bandwidth when you don't save the picture to your computer.

Amazon doesn't mind the hotlinking. With Firefox, you just right click on the image and click Copy link location, then come back here and click the little mountain pic in the reply box and paste the link there.
