question on "collectables"

We "inherited" some things from my late great aunt - deciding to give them to charity or keep them - have tried to research online without success - several HSN 15"-18" porcelain (?) dolls from late 1980's (guessing??) and wildlife themed Bradford Exchange brand decorative plates all still in original boxes.

looked on ebay a while ago and have not seen any selling there - wish I could have a garage sale but not allowed in my condo group. I have no idea how to post on ebay anyways and (am locked out my old paypal account since I never used it and they will not let me get a new one wthout faxing them proof. I have no way to fax and would not trust faxing personal info.) I am guessing they have little or no real value today. Any websites around to get info? I sure could use the money being out of work now.

Any other ideas? thans for any help

Have you tried going on google and getting info. Even going to a place where they sell the stuff. They may be able to tell you how the price has gone up. Before I would sell them at a garage sale I would do some serious checking. Even maybe talking to an auctioneer. Some of those plates and things can be worth quite a bit

DO the dolls have any markings., check the back of the necks for a stamp of some sort. Thats the best way to search.

As of a value, you may get $5 a piece for the dolls and maybe $3 each for the plates.
Collectibles that are mass-marketed as "COLLECTIBLES" aren't collectible at all. A collectible is something "rare'., a plate that they made 7,500 copies of is not collectible.
Do the plates have numbers like #246 out of #5,000?

I have no idea where you would go to find that information out. I've been looking all over trying to find a place to help me with my dad's sports card collection. There's over 15,000 cards and some of them are gold plated and some are porcelain

Look on the back of the plates and do a search using the information you find there. Try http://www.replacements.com - they can give you a reasonable market value, and if you really want to sell them, they also buy items like that. The dolls are probably not high end dolls, but they can still bring in a reasonable price if researched thoroughly.
