I called and asked about a school supply list and she told me they will get it the first week of school. Ahhhhh, I don't want to go back to the store when the good sales are over. Can anyone tell me what they should need??

My son needed the basics - a spiral for each class, a couple binders and loose leaf paper, lots of pencils and pens, colored pencils, book covers, pocket folders (some w/ brads), a usb thumb drive, a planner, and then his art class stuff (and lots of printer ink since he had to print off so much stuff at home).
I hope his high school stuff is pretty much the same. I don't want to be looking for the stuff after sales, either.

I hate that! when my sd was in school her school did that and it drove me nuts, I always bought what was on sale and what I thought she would need and she would still come home needing something else that was way cheaper during school supply sales....I think they should have more school supply sales during Sept instead of just July and August!
My niece is going into 8th grade and she needs a good calculator and all the things that THEpouty1 mentioned as well

My son is in 8th grade but we don't have to supply school supplies here so I won't be of any help. lol

When mine went, they did the same thing - and to boot, each team color coded their class, so it was almost impossible to guess and get all that you needed. That being said, you could go ahead and do that - 5 (1 and a half inch) binders in different colors, 5 spiral notebooks to match, a scientific calculator, colored pencils, colored markers, binder dividers with pockets (allow 2 or 3 for each binder, so appx. 15). Red and blue pens, and of course the zip drive (512 or more). That should get you through.

I have one going into 8th this year and they dont give us a list either which gets on my nerves.......in 7th grade I just bought the basics and I dont remember having to buy anything special after that.........I went to walmart the other day and got 96 of the .05 notebooks so I know at least paper is covered lol
Hey does anyone have a kid going into the ABC preschool program this year? My older kids did and didnt need supplies but I was wondering if that has changed since then cause we dont have a list for that either.

See if the school has a website, and look for the school supply list. Even last year's list would be helpful.

I went to the school website and nothing was listed as of yesterday so I called and surprisingly someone answered and said not till school starts. That is just plain nuts.
Back in wisc, everything was color coded so that's what I scared of. We moved here in the middle of the school year so we didn't get a list.
I know some things like the calculator he won't need because he isn't main streamed for math.
Guess I will just get the basics, thanks guys!

loose leaf paper
1 package of 6 dividers
5 presentation folders (not a PeeChee, must have pockets and brads
4 spiral notebooks
pencils
colored pencils
2 red pens
pencil sharpener (closed)
pencil pouch for pencils (must hook into binder)
scissors
Elmers glue or glue sticks
large box of Kleenex for 1st period teacher
2 packages 80 or 100 sheets of ¼ inch graph paper
flexible plastic 1 inch 3 ring binder
1 calculator - TI graphing
1 ruler (straight edge)
** Individual teachers may require additional items
Oh and let me tell you, the list that the teachers want goes on forever....poster boards, multi panel poster boards, thumbtacks, a jump drive, etc.
Plus they have a gym uniform that we have to buy before school starts otherwise they will receive an F for each day of gym that they are without the uniform.
I have one going into 7th grade also and her list is almost identical

I am at work right now, but I can post a scan of my now-9th grader's list from last year when I get home. It was unreal.

My 6th graders have a list, but my 8th grader doesn't. The school website says that the individual teachers will give out their list on the first week.
Luckily There are so many different school districts here with different start dates, the sales will still be going on after my kids get in school.
