I have a sty in my eye and I was wondering if anyone has ever used that stuff you can get at like walmart? If you have used it does it work well, this is itching and hurts to touch and I know that I should not be touching it.

I've never used it. However, many home remedy sites and books recommend that you put a warm washcloth on a stye for 10 minutes at a time, twice a day. This will open the pores around the eye and help the stye drain. I have also tried an old wives' remedy that often works. If you can pull the eyelash that's at the center of the stye, that usually works to help it go down. But don't touch the stye, as there is a good chance you'll get the bacteria on your hands and spread them into other parts of your eyelid.

HTH. Good luck!

I have been putting a warm washcloth on it and that does seem to help some with the pain. The sty it's self in inside my eye so I am not sure that pulling any eye lash will help. The itching is so had and it is really all I can do to keep from rubbing it and if I do that just makes it hurt worse. Does anyone know how long they normally hang around?

I have used it, we got our tube from Walgreens. It doesn't seem to heal it any faster but does take the itch out, at least enough to make it bearable. It also kind of burns on your eye but it's better than the itch.

So sorry stys are no fun. The sty my 11 y/o son had finally ruptured yesterday morning after a week of pain, swelling, and itchiness. Let me just say EWWWWW! The only thing we used as far as the sty went was the warm compresses 4 times a day for 10-15 minutes. He is also using antibiotic drops for pink eye so not really sure if those helped at all or not. I didn't even know they sold something over the counter like that.

The ointment I have is Walgreens brand and called Stymie Lubricant Eye Ointment. We paid about $5 for a .125 oz tube. It states that it isn't a cure but treats the symptoms.

you might want to try a compress of a mixture of boric acid and water.

I have used boric acid for years and it seems to work well.

Get a tea bag wet in very warm water and place it on the sty. Let it stay for a few minutes. When you do this you will find that the sty will usually shrink to half its size. The tannic acid in the tea seems to help.

Home remedy for sty: Before you go to bed, take one big and thick garlic clove and cut it in half. Rub the cut side on the sty; make sure NOT to touch the inner side of the eye.
Put chamomile tea in a cup and pour some boiling water on it, soak cotton wool pads into the liquid, squeeze and put on the eye. Make sure it's not too hot.
Take a gold ring, rub on jeans to warm then put on the sty.
Grind garlic clove, put on a q-tip and apply on the sty with the eye closed.
mix salt with warmed water and drop some into the affected eye every 30 mins or so and the sty normally goes away within 2-3 days - By T.Roberts

Thank you I got up today and could not even open my eye, I have no idea how I got this I don't wear contacts or makeup but if it has anything to do with stress than that would be how I got it.

a couple years ago I was fortunate enough to have a stye at the same time I had a doc appt, lol... the nurse as well as doc said the best thing was to first use baby shampoo around the area and rinse well then to use the warm compress.

Using just the baby shampoo made the stye go down within a day or two.

Be very careful not to touch the other eye with your fingers before washing your hands. It is very easy to transfer to the other eye. Also, good that you dont wear contact lens as that is an easy way to transfer... as well as makeup tools...

good luck
