I have been over the years replanting the trees knocked out by a few storms but none seem to be growing very fast. I very much want to get a tree line going at the end of my yard so the darn neighbors will stop spying on my family. I just need something that will grow faster and will be easy to take care of

here is a link to the Arbor Day sight listing some. I read some where that fast tree are more disease prone. Not sure if that true or not.

Cottonwoods, but they are junk trees .. we just cut all ours down. They grow fast but aren't sturdy .. one of ours fell across our yard and onto our neighbors garage during a wind storm a few years back.

Leland Cyprus make great privacy lines and they grow rather fast. They stay green year round. When we moved here we planted 52 of them. We have noticed the ones in full open sun grow faster then the ones in partial shade. They also are great dust barriers.

Eucalyptus trees grow about 6ft a year, the average at full maturity is 40-50 feet. I planted 2 in back yard when we still had our home in NC. When I got them they were 3 ft,by the end of the first year they were 9 feet, and by the time we put our home on the market they were 21 feet tall,in about 3 years' time. They are great shade trees and they help repel fleas and ticks from your yard, plus they smell so good. You dont have to rake at all either and they stay green year round.
I also planted Arapaho Crape Myrtles in the front lawn, they grow fast too.

we had a hard time trying to find them around here I wonder if I can order them through the mail and get good ones. The little one we had did great BUT then we had to relocate the storage building which meant digging it up and replanting.....the little guy never took the transplant well :(

I did a search on eucalytus trees, I had no idea they could be grown here. So now that I know we are gonna have some...lol. Here is what I found. I also didn't know that there were numerous kinds. http://www.jungleseeds.co.uk/SeedOrders/index1.html
We normally order from Burgess and have always been happy with them. I didn't find where they had any. But thought I would add the link as they really are a great company (for us anyways). www.eburgess.com

OH, OH, are these the ones that make spinney, spiky balls in the fall that fall all over the yard? Those suckers are hard and hurt if you step on them. They're like needles.
Don't plant a messy tree. Be sure you know what they do in the fall. Huge leaves that need raking into a humongous pile. Cottonwoods throw off thousands of seeds in the Summer and people who are allergic have to stay in the house cause of allergies. They also clog up your condenser outside and pool filters.
Some trees are very messy so know what they do. Fast growing isn't worth the trouble they cause.
Look into evergreens. They don't throw off any mess and stay green all year.
I see lots of nice rows of them planted to block out the noise of the streets.

Globe Willow. It's not the same as a weeping and it doesn't touch the ground. I have one in my yard that the previous owners planted about 5 years ago and it is the largest tree in the hood. It's also very beautiful when the wind gets it to swayin.

I think willow trees are so very very pretty,as a kid we used to play in them, they were messy, but well worth the mess, willows and lilac bushes are a few of the things I miss about being back home in Indiana.

This one isn't messy or I probably would have had it dug up... I don't wanna rake any leaves or deal with any sap... lol.
I also think the globe may repel mosquitos. We haven't seen one in our yard in the couple of years we've been in the house but I know they are in the hood cause when I check the neighbors mail for them I get nailed by huge ones...
Common Name Globe Willow
Botanical Name Salix matsudana 'Globosa'
Average Size Large
Information Fast growing. Large round top, grows best with regular watering. Tolerates poor soil.

Just wanted to show this one for it's size. This is about how big ours is. Our neighbors say when they brought it home it fit in the trunk of their car so it got big really fast.

thanx so much.
You know we did sneak some seeds in from Australia lol not sure any of those trees will grow or not. I am thinking I would have to start them in the house or something and then HOPE they will survive here.......can't even remember what they are called but they were awesome looking and MIL told me how to get the seeds to come out of the pods (yes I took them right off the trees in the street LOL)
