Yesterday my husband and I were at what we call a pig out, our city hosts it and there is live music and food vendors all over. Well as we are walking along there is a little girl 6-7 y/o walking with her what I assumed to be her parents and she was wearing this little pink t-shirt that said "Future Hooters Girl" and on the back it said "make em' drool when you're young" I about lost it right there I showed my husband and he just shook his head in disgust. What parent in their right mind would have a little girl wear something like that especially with the creeps around nowdays!? If I had a daughter it would be a cold day in hell that, that would ever be put on her!

I would not let my 21 year old daughter wear that let alone a little girl.

Some people have no common sense. When I see people who let their child(especially that young) wear clothes like that first thing that comes to mind is low class trash (the parents but the kids cant help the way their brought up).
They may think it's cute but that is not what most others think.

My grandgirls couldn't get away with wearing anything like that. But their folks wouldn't even consider buying any provocative for them. And folks of little girls wonder why they grow up so fast and do wild things. DUH!!

I know what you mean. I took my 13 yr old bathing suit shopping & some of those suits were unbelievable.
I made sure to not let her get one that was too skimpy even though I know she wouldn't go for one that was next to nothing.
She settled on a tankini that has a little skirt on the bottom. Very nice & classy.

I saw a girl one time that was around 10, maybe, walking w/ her mom and she had a shirt on it that said Porn * (it was a star on it) I about fell over.

That's really sad.
Don't get me wrong - I believe the girls should dress like girls. There is nothing wrong with them having a bit of cleavage, or to have a bikini on, or that sort of thing. Hell, I got my 16 yr. olds bikini at Victoria Secrets, but I made damn sure that it was respectable before she even went out of the house. I encourage them to present themselves in a feminine manner. they wear strapless dresses to dances, and spaghetti straps... BUT nothing that could be mistaken as sexually suggestive. Strapless = strapless bra, and the spaghetti straps = clear or fancy straps that are meant to be seen like the pearls or rhinestones.
But a LITTLE girl - still a baby.... that's just wrong. Mine are STILL not permitted to wear any bikini that ties at the sides, and the tops are darn sure going to stay secure!

i agree w/ all of you, how disgusting. the sad thing as long as ppl buy that crap, the manufacturers will continue to pump that smut out on the retail shelves. :( I just don't see how clothing like that is funny, like you said w/ all the creeps and perverts out there the last thing you want to do is call attn. to your young child *shakes head*

I'm all for freedom of speech and such but those types of shirts should be illegal for underage girls! Someone should start a letter writing campaign to the newspaper and companies that make such crap. It's like making your child an advertisement for pedophiles. Some sick person reads that chit on a kid, it attracts him and you all know the rest. That parent ought to be spoken to.

I know some will say women/girls can wear whatever they want but in todays world I dont think that's possible. There are too many sick people out there & I agree it's like advertising.

I remember once when my girls were younger, they wanted some of the Mary Kate and Ashley clothes from Walmart but I refused to buy any of it cuz some of it looked so trashy...hello? my little girls do not need to wear halter tops (if that's even what it's called..only thing holding it on is a strap around the neck and the material was so loose, or tube tops...and now days, it is VERY hard to find a pair of shorts that go past the butt cheeks.

I hear you about the shorts. Took my 13 yr old shopping & 1st thing I said dont even think of picking out any of those shorts.
How in the heck can they even be comfortable.

yeah its odd at Kohls we have such wide styles. They have these shorts for the sz 8-16 and they are short enough to be for a 3 yr old. so crazy. and some of the dresses (in the 4-6 sizes) look like they are for adults not young kids

My daughter had to buy the knee length shorts because the regular shorts were so short. She said that she didn't want anyone seeing her butt cheeks. She has to buy x-large tops to keep her belly from showing. It is terrible how short they are making tops now. She wears a size 7 in juniors and I swear some of the shirts look like they could fit toddlers in a medium or large.

My 13 yr old has to buy in the womens section because the juniors are so tiny & small.

My daughter is 10 y/o and neither me nor her very protective daddy would let her wear something like that.
My stepdaughter is 21 and she is very tall and lean and I had hell trying to find shorts for her that was longer than 1/2 in past her crotch cuz that is how manufactors make them. They think everyone wants to be as skanky as Paris Hilton

I agree! It's hard to find decent clothes anymore. It's hard to even find stuff for my 2 1/2 year old. The are making everything to revealing. My 9 1/2 year old is kinda chunky and its hard to find shirts without having to go to the adults and buy regular t shirts.

True story... when I was 9 years old, I found a pull out iron on decal in a magazine that was laying around the house (anyone remember those?) Anyhow, I asked my Mom if I could iron on a transfer to one of my T-shirts. She was busy making her grocery shopping list and said "sure." She didn't even think to ask me what it was or what it said.
Anyway, I took out the iron and the ironing board and transferred that thing right on there. Mom went to the store and while Dad was in the kitchen, I snuck out of the house wearing the shirt.
We lived in town at the time on a heavily traveled street, with sidewalks. I stood out there waving at cars, pointing to my shirt, so proud I was as a few of the cars going by honked at me!
The honking got my Dad's attention, he came out on the front porch and motioned for me to come over to him. Reading the shirt, he said "Have you lost your damned mind?!? Get your *ss in the house and put on something decent, NOW!" Then I got the whack on my butt as I walked by.
Oh, by the way, the iron-on from the magazine said in big letters..
"BEER DRINKERS MAKE BETTER LOVERS" like I knew what that really meant to begin with, LOL!

I totally agree with you. I was quite depressed when my daughter began to outgrow Gymboree's clothing because it was my favorite place to shop for her.

I had a girl and I mean girl walk past my house recently with a skirt on and she was wearing a thong! .. It was pulled up past the top of the skirt .. you know kind of high on her hips .. There is NO way in hell either one of my kids would be wearing a thong .. they are 8 & 11 and this girl was right in there with them age wise.
And I am not a prude by any measures, but they wouldn't be wearing that shirt either. The parents need their heads examined buying their young DD's clothes like that.

I have had this same complaint for years.
talk to the buyers at your local stores. They are the ones who choose what goes on your shelves. Also, send copies of this discussion and others like it to the stores which you patronize. You can find them by google or other search engines. Then, most importantly, have the young girls for whom they are making these clothes and making their marketing targets...have THEM raise holy heck to the store's buyer and management about what's on the store shelves and clothing racks.
