View Full Version : Silent Treatment at Work

I bring a newspaper to work and read it at odd times. It was ok when I got hired. A few people come by my desk daily to read their horoscope or check sports scores. Just a quick glance and a minute or two of chit chat. Well, today nobody came by. I thought ok, they're all busy and that happens sometime. Luckily someone had the guts to come up and tell me that one of the executive assistants told them not to do it because it's unprofessional looking. I need my job but this is just petty. Usually this happens before I'm on the clock or someone's on lunch. It's not like it's interfering with work. Plus I go out of my way to do little extra things for this assistant on my breaks and at lunch. Now everybody's afraid to come by and talk to me which is weird since I'm right by the restrooms. Guess I'll just have to live with this but it sure is petty. What a witch!

That is petty. I wouldn't be doing the extra things for her anymore. Let her do her own stuff from now on. Thats low when you're doing things to help her out.

That is petty. I mean as long as it's before work or on lunch break I dont see the problem.

Thanks everyone for agreeing with me.
Guess I'll just crawl back into my hole at work and leave everybody alone.
I don't think I'll ever understand the corporate mindset.

:yeah that sucks, I'm sure in time things will get back to normal. That's pretty sad that the witch couldn't come and talk to you and let you know they feel it's unprofessional instead of telling everyone BUT you, gotta love when ppl are to chicken **** to come out and say what they're thinking

just seems to be one of the things you have to put up with when working for someone, to be at their personal whims. Maybe she was having a bad day that day, lol.

I'm sure it'll pass. Don't let it bother you. Offices are so weird., such a strange little micro-cosm.
