So I'm lookin' at some auctions & if I do not make the reserve price (I don't know what it is) - can I get negative fb?

I will totally pay what I bid & I understand seller can opt NOT to sell to me if I don't make the reserve price (don't think they will)


but will that hurt me?

no.. the auction will just be canceled if reserve isn't met and seller choses not to sell for final bid

You can also message the seller, sometimes they will tell you what the reserve is. I usually do that so then I know if I'm wasting my time bidding or not.
