POULSBO, Wash. — Drug detectives have arrested a Poulsbo area man who told them he resorted to growing marijuana because of mounting debt.

West Sound Narcotics Enforcement Team detectives and Kitsap County prosecutors say 44-year-old John M. Pritzos grew marijuana in his home.

Pritzos is charged with manufacturing marijuana.

According to court documents, he told detectives he turned to growing marijuana to pay his monthly expenses, which add up to $8,500 to $9,500 each month. He says he's losing money on a rental home in Berkeley, Calif., home that fetches less than the cost of its three mortgages, and $1,200 child support payments.

He says he had no choice but to grow marijuana.

Couldn't he like sell the California home and maybe cut back on some other things? $8500 a month in expenses?

Not in his defense at ALL but homes are not selling anywhere ESPECIALLY California so he would probably take a big loss right now.

My home has been on the market going on 9 months now but i'd let the house go before I get into anything illegal.

If he would have grown & sold just to the dispenseries and co'ops I'm sure he would have been fine.

THREE mortgages ?

Monthly expenses which add up to $8,500 to $9,500 ?

What happened to the idea of not spending more then you make ?

No sense of personal responsibility

I agree,
He wasn't as desperate as he made it sound. I'd let the house go in his place. Don't have things you can't afford! :)
