A man died apparently after falling from the roof of the Monticello Hotel in Longview at about 11 p.m. Friday, Longview police said.
The man landed atop the patio roof at the front of the 6-story historical building.
It was unknown if the man lived at the hotel, which houses apartments in its upper floors.
Witnesses told a Daily News reporter late Friday night that it appeared to be a young man.

The man who died late Friday night after falling from the roof of the Monticello Hotel has been identified as 18-year-old Casey Johnson of Longview.
The cause of his death will be released this evening following an autopsy, Cowlitz County Coroner Tim Davidson said. Johnson’s family has been notified of his death.
Johnson was a senior at R.A. Long High School, involved in the pep and jazz bands and was enlisted in the Marines, according to his Myspace page. Myspace is an online social network.
Johnson fell from the roof of the 6-story historical Longview building at roughly 11 p.m. He landed on the roof of the patio in front of the building.
The hotel, located on the Civic Circle, has a restaurant and lounge and houses apartments in its upper floors.

Even though it doesn't say it in the article, his memorial myspace page says he had been drinking and went up to the top with friends and fell. It's just so sad.
