I was watching the news last night and they said that the average person has 4 credit cards.........that was a bit shocking to me. I have 2 with very SMALL limits and I only got the 2nd because much lower interest, once the orginal is paid off I will be closing that one and going back down to one.

I have a lot, but that includes store cards, gas cards, specific cards that I get reward points with, some with low interest rates I use if I need to leave a balance on for a while, etc.

I have one. DH has one. They both have a very small limit. Our balance on both is $0.

I do NOT want anymore. I am wicked when it comes to spending money. I only use cash. I won't even get a debit card.

I have one with a $500 limit on it but a zero balance. It's usually only used for emergencies though.

I voted 3 or more...but thats a little misleading.

My DH has 2 with $300 limits. We only use them for emergencies and the balance is zero. Then he has 2 business cards. One that he puts all of his misc expenses on and another that he has to use to book travel. The first one is paid off monthly and the other one is paid monthly by the company.

We pulled ourselves out of credit card debt and vowed to never do that again! We do have mortgage, 2 car payments and will soon have a 7,000 student loan though.

I'm with you!! I do NOT want a debit card!! can you imagine if someone stole it. Before you realized it how much money they could get away with. ANd you would have to try to sort out what was not your charges. with all the scams, the banks are getting more suspicous. I have 2 mc. Because 1 pays cash back on everything but only 1%. ANd the other mc pay pay %5 towards groc, drugs stores and gas stations and 1% (but we don't use for anything else) in gift cards) Plus we have menards card that pays 2%. But we pay balances off every month. So they all pay us to use their cards:dancing:

Oh just wanted to add, did it say that the average household also has most of them close to maxed out also. I have heard that also on those types of shows also.

We have ZERO!

Never had any and never will. I have to admit that not ever using credit has hurt us a bit on our credit score (since we don't have one lol) but we don't have any debt.

If we can't afford to pay for something with cash (or debit card) we either save for it or don't get it.

I think I have five. But two haven't been used in over a year. One is used only a few times a year (department store). One is used for online stuff, but I pay it off every month. The other is mainly used for travel expenses since we get points on that one. That one also is paid off every month.

I charge all my regular purchases every month, then I pay it right off so I don't owe interest. I get points on my charges though and I get g/c with my points.

I have a wallet full of them - both personal & business cards. They all get paid in full when the bill comes in. If I don't have the money in savings to buy something then I don't buy it. I REFUSE to pay interest on a credit card.

ZERO I had too much fun w/ them when I was younger and cut them all up. I'm thinking about getting another one this year to help bring my credit score up, even though I don't know what it is :lol but I've got nothing against me on my credit report and want to keep it that way :dancing:

I have four major credit cards. All of them are paid off and all of them have had major credit increases. I have a pretty decent amount in credit if I ever need it.

I have 4, $1700 limit, 2 $7500 limit and 1 $10,000 limit. They're all at zero balance though. I put all of my bills on my CC's every month then just pay it off so I keep high limits so I don't go over 30% utilization. I use them to help my credit, it shows I have "older" accounts that I've kept for awhile.

we took out a home equity loan and paid ours off. We keep a gas card for emergencies, and also a Lowes card for emergencies also. You never know when the fridge is going to go kaput. Credit cards are deadly.

ok I have a stupid question.......why do so many have store cards? I mean the interest on them is huge if you are carrying a balance why not just have one mastercard or visa card for anything that comes up you haven't planned for?

I don't know how many we have but it is a bunch. We only use 3 and don't carry a large amount but are trying to get those paid off. What happened here? Did all the people who do owe on them feel too bad about it to speak up? The only people who spoke up said 0 balance. Where are all the people those reports are talking about? With this recession or depression that is creeping in,it is scary not to get out of debt. Our house and car are paid for.
