My little guy has been sick (nothing too new for us) but his fever wouldn't go down from 103 so we went to the ER Easter morning. After sitting there for a few hours, the doctor came in and said that they aren't sure what's causing the fever and such but that most of my son's bloodwork came back normal...but that the white blood cell count came back extremely low so we needed to follow up with our doctor the next day. So today we went in to see the regular doctor and he tells me that my son's white blood cell count is around 1800 (I guess normal is 5000 or higher) and then starts talking about something with the bone marrow but that more tests are needed and starts talking doctor talk so I ask him for the English version and he mentioned Leukemia..not saying he officially has it but more tests are needed....so after sitting there for hours and hours, we finally got to come home and start the worrying.

So now I have this to stress over...plus tomorrow I'm going in for surgery to have a mass removed that was found during a recent physical. I've been stressing over that and now there's my son to stress about.....does it ever end? Is it really too much to ask for just one day with no medical drama, no stress, and no craziness? Just a simple, easy day where everyone wakes up, is healthy, happy, and content. Okay, my whining is over...mainly because I'm tired and need to go to bed.

Well I don't know how I feel about the latest development...I went in today for my surgery...got there, did all the prep and everything and then the doctor comes in and tells me that they are postponing the surgery until a specialist can come in on it....apparently there's an issue with where the mass is located and whether removing it is going to cause problems in the long run....no, I don't want additional problems, but I just wanted this done and over with already.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and words of comfort.

can't blame you there, I'd be very upset if I got all prepped and then was told they can't do it, they should have known that and had a specialist ready before you ever signed in. I hope they aren't making you pay for any of their services today, you should also send them a bill for wasting your time ;) :lol :hug

OK, I am also so sorry to hear about you and your son, but PLEASE, because people on this board very much do care, as I do, so let us know how you both are doing, and do not just leave us hanging. My sin is not keeping track every day to a certain board for a reply, as I sign into different boards from time to time, but I do know others will be waiting patiently for your updates. You and your son did in my heart make an impression and I will pray for you both, HUGS. I sincerely hope next time that I read all for both of you are well. GL

Boy and I think I have a lot on my plate until I see something like this. Lots of prayers going out to you and your son. I am glad the Dr. did this instead of going in and then find out he did more damage then good.

Also keep in mind, in regard to your son, drs often give the worst scenerio so that when it isn't as bad, you are happy for what you get.
