Do you know what type of bird this is? How cool!

A few years back I rescued a newly hatched baby bird that I had assumed had fallen out of its nest. It landed on the hot concrete in our backyard on July 4th. How it survived that fall was beyond me! But I took it inside (couldn't find the nest) and gave it some water, and he/she greedily drank it down. Poor thing barely even had its eyes open and no feathers yet.

I looked online on how to feed it and went to Petco to buy all the different sorts of foods it needed. I'm happy to say that it survived and grew to adulthood. We named him/her Lucky because he/she sure was.

It's a bearded dragon lizard.. I breed them and we have been waiting for a loooong time to hatch.. Bearded eggs are supposed to hatch 55-75 days from being layed. This group took 109 days!

No those 2 are from the first hatch we had 2 years ago. Their names are Zim and Nessa.

Zulu and Maya are the parents

We have 19 beardies including this one.. This hatch of babies we are selling.

Right now all I have to do is monitor it's tank (heat) and it won't start eating for about 2 days so I have a while before I have to do anything :)

I feel like such a moron. I saw the word "beardies" and mistook it for "birdies". Sorry about that. Now the picture makes sense to me. lol

I don't know a thing about these. Do they bite or can you pick them up? They look like they have prickly skin. Congrats on the new ones:)

The one we had was pretty calm, even when he did get irritated he just did the thing where they do the open-mouth threat display at you and that was it.

They can bite tho.

And I think their skin is smooth, it doesn't really feel scaley to me.

One of mine bites when he is a bad mood. His name is Rebel. heh He will be a year old at the end of june. His 4 other sibs hatched 1 week later.
It doesn't hurt when they are babies but when they become young adults they can draw blood *nod

I've been lucky, Rebby is the only beardie out of 18 that is moody like that

Congrats. They are cool, thanks for sharing. I used to raise boas and leopard geckos. They are all great fun. I was always tempted to pick up a beardie from Sunfire or Dragon's Den but I behaved (at the time, we had over a hundred animals already). I did love holding and petting them at the shows though. :rainbow

Living in NY I am pertrified of strange critters! I went down for a visit to my daughter and yep fell in love with little lizard that came to visit. Planted her a little veggie garden and when I watered it would come out and actually sit next to me. Talking little lizard here and the size of yours freaks me out! lol Beyond that something that would bite! EWWWWWWWWWWW

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I had no idea what I was looking at, thought it was some kind of weird oriental wonton, or something. Congrats on the offspring!

Me too! I don't know what it is about them but they scare me. I guess I just like animals that you can hold and cuddle like cats, dogs, birds, rats. Do they like to be held? Sorry but like I said I don't know a thing about the little critters.

My beardies are really tame.. The mommy beardie and I are known to take naps together. They do snuggle up against you for warmth :) They like being held *nod and running around the house one at a time with me following behind :)

Oh that is really one of coolest things I ever seen. It would probably give me the willys in real life though.

I have a toad in the basement right now and I am not going down there til DH is home.
