BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas State Police trooper has been charged with felony assault and battery after an alleged domestic dispute with his wife.

Benton County Prosecutor Van Stone filed the charges Friday against trooper Brian A. Garrett, 38, of Greenbrier. Garrett had been stationed in Little Rock and was assigned to the governor's mansion.

According to court documents, Garrett is accused of threatening his wife with his gun and hitting their children.

Garrett is to be arraigned Monday before Benton County Circuit Judge David Clinger.

Garrett was placed on administrative leave last December after his wife filed for a restraining order against him, Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said.
