For the last 2 days I have had this flu like thing. Ached all over, head ache, just nasty. Today mostly congested and a nasty cough.
Well the 3 yr old is a little sick also so yesterday he fell asleep around 4 in the afternoon and I left him alone b/c I felt so bad and was trying to deal w/ the other 2 boys. So last night around midnight he wakes up and is in my room (DH slept downstairs so as not get sick) so every 30 min or so from 12 -5 I was up w/ him, asking for cartoons, for juice, for water, for food, to go downstairs any thing. So any way I am still sick and feel crummy and am very tired all of which makes me a very unhappy mommy.
Today he has been so needy I am about to scream. If I leave the room he calls me "mom, mom, mom" he wants stuff in the kitchen every 20 min for an hour. It wouldn't be that bad if I didn't feel so sick.
Ok..... feel a little better now.... he is quiet for a minute...

Back in the early Victorian days, they used to have something called "Mother's Helper." You gave it to kids and they quieted right down. My mother (of 8 kids) often joked that it sounded like a wonderful idea, especially in situations such as you're in today.
". . . . the various names given to opium solutions designed for household use:
Mother's Helper
Infant's Quietness
Atkinson's Preservative
Dalby's Carminative[8]
Soothing Syrup
Godfrey's Cordial"

I know it's a terrible idea, but on days like this, you can understand the urge! ;)

Hope both of you feel better soon, it's bad enough when us mom's are sick let alone have one of the kids sick along with us.

My son had colic when he was a baby and a few people told me about this. There was something else I know this is not spelled right but Paragoric?? it is also a narcotic but people used it too much and dr's quit prescribing it. I did wish a few times I could get my hands on it though lol

thanks. thankfully the flu is mostly gone and we all slept last night. I just have a cough and stuffed nose. GOt me some medicine for it but they won't sell you cold meds for kids under 3 any more. He is close to 4 and a big kids so I might be able to give him a smaller dose of the kids meds, he would feel better.

ok so funny story to add to this. Today was Walmart I was saying how I needed to get some medicine for my nose. Being stuffy is making me nausious, and I got some more for the older boys b/c they still have a little cough. Well I looked and one still gave dosage starting at age 2 so I found the right amount to give to the 3 yr old. Well usually his med. were w/ a oral surange (s/p the shot thing w/o the needle) so he wanted some, put it in the cup and asked if it was for his nose. I said yes and he tried to pour it in his nose. I had to talk him through drinking it out of the cup like he would his juice. LOL maybe now he can start to feel better also.
