I had the same problem just after I bought this house we are in. It was under warranty and so had someone from sears come out to check it out, cost $75. There was a breaker that had been tripped believe it or not. Yeah $75 for a guy to come out and reset my breaker. Check them each individualy, mine looked like they were all fine but that one wasnt , make sure none are lose.

I would suggest if you have fuses to it, change the fuse, even if it looks good change it. I had a dryer stop working and the fuse looked good, went and bought a new dryer and it wouldn't work. It was the fuse.
If you don't have fuses then check your breaker box that something didn't trip it.
Otherwise I would call and electrician out to see what is going on.

Go reset the breakers - sometimes they will look like they are "on" when they have actually tripped and are just not all the way back to the "on" position. We have one at our office that does that and it is so irritating. Worse yet I work for a Electrician - you would think we could get that fixed.

I know the feeling. My dad is a electrician, and I'm so worried he will have another heart attack that I won't ask him to fix anything that I need fixed. And I have so many electrical issues right now that need attention, but I just can't bring myself to ask him. Also he won't let me pay him and I can't stand to see him work hard for free. So that's also a issue.

If flipping the breaker doesn't fix the problem. I can call and ask my dad for you if you want me to. He is a certified electrician, and has been for 40 years now.

At least you woke up!! That was a good sign. Why is it whenever you wake up in a fairly good mood there is some appliance or something in your home just waiting to drag you down...

How many amps is your stove? Do you have enough amperage on the breaker you are hooking it? You may not have enough pull on the breaker.

I dont know much about these kinds of things but i THINK that if it was the plug or a breaker you would not be getting any power to it.

My old oven did this once and it was the thermostat(in the oven)

Why don't you bring it back to the store and get it replaced? Especially if you haven't even had it 24 hours??

Did you call the store before your DH started changing wires and everything? I don't thikn they'll take it back if it's been altered and all.

Good luck...

BTW...Steaks are better on a foreman grill anyways. ;)

It sounds like the breaker in the box needs to be changed. If power is not going to your stove it's got to be the breaker.

Have you got free long distance? He said you could call him. He's a real nice guy. But he will be going to bed soon. So if you want to call you need to now. He seemed to know exactly what I was talking about when I talked to him. Something about there should be 240 volts and he can tell your hubby where to check and look for the problem. You want to call him?

OK, I just pmed you his number. But you better hurry and call right now so he doesn't go to bed. He's set in his ways and bedtime is normally at 9. So he is staying up later than normal because I asked him to wait on your call. :)

Glad to hear you finally have that problem fixed. But please keep in mind that the majority of the time it would have been the appliance and not the breaker or even the main breaker that was the problem. Trust me if someone says they have a bad breaker 99% of the time it is not the breaker.
