A six-year-old Shreveport girl on life support since being trapped in an apartment fire more than a week ago has died.
Tuesday morning a Caddo Parish judge ordered that Sha ja'berne Small's life support be disconnected. She died at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.
After this morning's hearing in Caddo District Court, family members rushed out of the courthouse. The family's attorney spoke for the family.
"The family justs wants to lean on the Lord right now, and they're very distraught right now. That's all I can say," said Attorney Wilbert Pryor.
Police say the six-year-old girl and her brother were both left home alone while their mother, Santonia Small, went out to go to a nightclub.
She has been charged with cruelty to a juvenile.
The attorney representing the little girl's father says the family is coping with what comes next.
