Father Charged with Abusing 17-month-old
Bossier City police have arrested 34-year-old Lance David Thamm charging him with attempted first degree murder after they say he slammed the head of his 17-month-old daughter into a doorjamb.
Mark Natale with the Bossier City police department says it happened yesterday around 1:30 in the afternoon at the Parkland Villa Apartments on the 31 hundred block of Shed Road.
Police say after the incident, the child was unresponsive and that Thamm didn't immediately call for help rather waited for the girls mother to call home to check on things and then told her he didn't know what was wrong with her.
They say when she came home and noticed the child was not moving, she immediately called police.
Paramedics took the child to Christus-Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport where doctors determined the child's injuries was the result of abuse.
Police immediately began questioning Thamm and they say they have good evidence against him.
The child has life threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition.
Bossier City police say this isn't the first time Thamm has been accused of abuse. They say he served about a to year prison sentence in Texas for abusing his son (by a different woman.) They say he has also been arrested in the past for domestic violence against his daughter's mother and has also been charged with marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession as well.
