Last year I tried to grow my vegetables from seeds and it didn't go too well. I tried growing cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans etc from seeds and they all ended up dying on me. So I wasted money on seeds and I went and brought tomato, cucumber and other vegetable plants instead. Now I need to know what can I grow from seeds that is easy to take care of and won't die on me.
Also when is the best time to start growing them.

Thanks

The only thing we've had luck with growing from seeds are Corn. Otherwise, they die.
We usually go to our local fruit market store and buy the plants already started. They're pretty hearty and grow good.

Im thinking a couple of months yet to start growing them inside, thats for planting outside in May or June though.

I plant everything from seeds and have never had a problem except with bell peppers. Try starting them inside in small containers before planting them outside. Also, make sure your soil is turned and loose, not too hard. Then make sure to water enough, but not too much so they don't drown or get moldy. We plant in late April to early May for most things, except pumpkins. I experimented with those last year and figured out that I planted too early, so I wouldn't plant those until probably June this year.

I don't suggest starting cucumbers or melons in the house they start vining shortly after sprouting and are hard to contain. I do start pretty much everything else inside though. If you want to do it on the cheap use the dirt from the garden you will be transplanting in and sprout in those plastic meat containers that most grocery stores use now.

you usually need to start planting after the first frost in spring has passed and depending on where you live you dont want to plant them too late in the summer. if they are in packages read the back of the packages and make sure you are planting them in the right soil. some need soil with high acidity some dont. and if they need watered dont water them when the sun is on them wait til the sun is off the area they are planted(this is what hubby does) and he has no prolems growing things outside. and of course weed your garden often. also miracle grow might help and read up on the plant and look for any diseases the plant might get or mites, etc HTH
