My throat is so sore

I woke up yesterday w/ a sore throat, I've got no other cold/flu symptoms just a dry irritated throat and I'm ready to be back to normal now. :( I can barely talk (which will make Luke happy) or swollow and since it's so dry I keep coughing. :cry I hate taking medicine but I think I'm going to have to try some tylenol and keep sucking on throat lozengers. Anyone have any other remedies besides tea and honey?

That's how mine started too Shann and I've been sick for what? About 2 weeks now. There Lemon Joney TheraFlu seemed to help me the most.

Shann, take a lemon roll it around ,cut in half sprinkle some salt over it and squeeze it down into your throat, it really works..

SO has the same thing now too, his is going on over a week.

Whenever I get a sore throat, I gargle with salt water. I just pour some salt into a glass from the salt shaker, add some warm water and swish it around to dissolve it, then gargle a couple of times, spit it out. It tastes nasty but it works.
I do this several times a day and it takes a couple of days but it always seems to kill the bugs. It works better than any spray or cough drops.

thanks everyone :) I took some tylenol earlier and it seems to have helped. I will def be drinking tea and honey when I get the energy to get it and patron once Luke gets home to get it down, he had this great idea to put all the alcohol on top of the cupboards and even w/ the step stool I fall short and I'd really hate to break an almost full bottle of patron. I'd seriously start licking it off the floor if that happened that stuff isn't cheap LOL!

No shit about it not being cheap! When I buy, I stick with my Jose. But most of my friends buy me Patron Silver. I think I might try some with lime and honey. Think that would help?

How about a hot toddy?

1 tbsp honey
3/4 glass tea
2 shots brandy
1 slice lemon

I guess it works well for a sore throat. Hope you get feeling better.

You need Motrin!My 2 DD's had such sore throats A couple of months ago,they couldn't even swallow.The doctor explained(I actually forget exactly what they said lol)something about it relieving inflammation?I forget,but anyway it did work.Also they told me to double-dose for A couple of days.

the only winter medicine we buy in my house is "TYLENOL MULTI SYMPTOM"

but its gotta be the liquid....works great on sore throats too. Has everything you need in it to kick every symptom :D

sore throat cure: 1 shot of Southern Comfort 100 proof

(no, it won't make you drunk enough that you won't care...but any kind of high end alcohol will numb the pain on your throat).



If you are sick: hot toddy and boil some water on the stove then remove from heat, put a towel over your head and breathe in the vapors....you can also add some Vicks Vapo Steam.

This does work well. They gave me this when I had mouth and throat irritation from my chemo.

I feel worse. :( Now I'm really getting sick :cry I slept most the afternoon finally just got up to make myself something to eat. It's in my sinuses so my ears and face itch, I'm coughing and my throat still hurts, thankfully I'm not congested (yet anyways) Luke went and got me some meds since apparantly we had none left. Out here I don't have an MD or insurance so I'm just going to suffer through, sounds like I have the same thing everyone else does, hello the next 2.5 weeks of my life :( The other day I also had him stock up on ice cream so I'll have something cold to help my throat w. :) Thank you everyone, I appreciate it. :)

I all ready had some ice cream, it was sooooo good, snot is not my problem.. at least right now. a month?!?!! urgg... I'm on day 3, I can't take this for a month. :( I'm ready to be better now :rules
