Passport Question

I have sole custody of the oldest kids from my first marriage.........we are in the process of getting passports for us all..........does anyone know if I have to have the ex do a letter up for them or since I have custody do I have the right to just do it w/out needing his permission?

I didn't have to have a letter from my ex. But I did have to show my marriage license (my current one), since my last name is now different then my childrens so I had to show how my old last name changed to the current one. It really surprised me that I didn't have to show custody papers or anything.

well you wouldnt believe all the proof I had to have once to get my paypal account sorted out.......I had to prove that I WAS .........then I had to prove that I wasn't ...........because I married hubby number 2 lol I figure I will just have copies of everything that way when they ask me I will have something to hand over lol........they told hubby on phone it will take 3 wks to get (I bet longer lol) then we still have to get visas after that

They told you 3 WEEKS to get a passport. I think they meant 3 Months. They are super backed up - we paid $ 200.00 to get my bosses done overnight to ensure he would have it back in time to go do a service call in Peru. You might want to check on the wait times again. Also if you are having to get a Visa read the rules very carefully I know on the Visa application for Brazil you have to get a USPS money order - they won't take any others.

I have sole custody of my daughter and when she got her passport I took a copy of the court order with me and they made a copy of the page that said I had sole custody and sent it with the application.

see thats what I told hubby no way they are gonna have them back in 3 wks lol but we have until almost the end of May and doing them tomorrow so fingers crossed they will be ready in time :)

well went yesterday and I did have the papers proving I have full custody AND the print out saying that was enough BUT the guy at the post office said my ex has to come in and sign the forms as well or he wont send them in. He told us again that it has been taking 3 wks for them to come.....they apparently hired extra ppl to get through all the back log and our passport will actually come from Hot Springs but our Birth Certificates go to Philadelphia or something like that

well the EX finally went to sign yesterday and the man said he was mailing out the apps yesterday afternoon so we shall see how long it takes

well 3 wks from the day they were mailed in they are all here at my house :) Now I just have to wait for all 5 birth certificates to come back
