I am so angry right now!! My husband is in Iraq again, and so he has to do his christmas shopping for me and the kids online. Yesterday he ordered something for our daughter and something for me from wal mart. He got a conformation email, then later he got a cancellation email. I called them today to find out why. After waiting forever to get ahold of a real person, she told me that they no longer accept orders that are placed by people overseas. I said so that basically means that our soldiers who are fighting for this country and companiers like your are no longer able to use you site to shop. WHAT THE HELL!!! Didn't they use to be all patriotic, and we love america...that's crap!! Please help me get the word out about this. I'm guessing that peole don't know that they are doing this, and everyone needs to know. We can't let them treat our soldiers like this!! I am so done with them at this point. Please, please help me pass the word!
Thank You!!

That's what I'm doing right now. I just want to let as many people as I can know about this. We really need to get people to show them that we aren't going to just let them continue to do things like this. Where will it end with them?

That just stinks. Who the hell do they think they are. I rarely ever shop there. Their toys are always broken, clothes are torn things don't work, so just who are they to not take an order and ship for one of our soldiers. Ohhhhh that makes me so mad

How did they know he was overseas?
His IP address was a non US address. He was trying to ship it to our house here in the states. So, it wasn't about where he was shipping it to, it was where he was when he placed the order.

That's strange. Why would they even check his IP address? This our third deployment and we've never had any problems ordering from anywhere.

Well, one of the things was for me, and he really wants it to be a surprise. As far as the gifts for our daughter, last time he was gone I did all the christmas shopping, and he really felt out of the holiday's. This time he wants to do it all himself, it helps him feel a part of it still if he gets to shop for the gifts himslef instead of me just putting his name on things.

If WalMart cannot accept orders from our servicemen who are overseas, then how in the heck can they accept all the merchandise they get that is made overseas??? Wrong, wrong, wrong!!!!!

I thought it was weird, too. Last time he was there he ordered from them with no problem. The girl said it was a new policy that they don't take orders from non US IP address anymore. I don't know why it would even matter, especially if he is having it shipped to a US address.

I know from my SS being over there that down time and computer time is precious to them. How sad that he wasted all that time shopping and the evil company cancelled his order. You need to let someone know this story that can broadcast it. Maybe an email barrage to the media or something?

It's time to take your business elsewhere.. Screw Wal-mart - I wouldn't waste my money on any of their merchandise. I've been to wal-mart once, A security guard about to tackle me. It was enough to keep me from ever stepping foot inside another one. I'd rather spend more without the hassle....This gives me one more reason to stay away from Wal-mart.
I hope your husband finds a store that will let him order Christmas gifts for you & your lil ones.

What's worse is that they charged his account for both transactions before they cancelled them. Now, he has to wait for the charges to credit back before he can do anymore shopping. They sure were quick to take the money for the purchases that they said they couldn't complete!!

That just makes me sick! People are dying so we have what we have and they can't take orders from overseas. WTF is this world coming from. Yeah I shop @ walmart only because I can't afford alot but that is so sad that they are that ignorant that they wouldn't take a simple order that was already going to be shipped to the U.S. anyway!
You know what Walmart wouldn't be who they are if it wasn't for those men and women overseas fighting for our freedom. F@#$ THEM!

Did you ask why that is their policy? It could have been as simple as the fact that alot of the credit card scams, people having their info stolen, comes from foreign IP addresses.
I personally would dig deeper and go higher up, and try to get them to change their policy.

But, isn't his bank card drawn on a U.S. bank? So, that wouldn't be a problem as far as his payment.
As far as looking at his IP address I didn't know Walmart did that. Seems like more work than Walmart usually puts into things.
And they deliver to APO/FPO addresses and they have international websites to order from Walmart, so it sounds like whoever you talked to at Walmart didn't know what they were talking about.
Check out this link regarding ordering from Walmart regarding international orders: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=538456

Since Kevin is trying to buy gifts from there too, I emailed them and asked what their policy is. If I ever get a reply, I'll post it.
Also, it's weird they charged his card already. It clearly states that your card will not be charged until your purchase is shipped.

It could be the bank or financial institution that has a hold on the money. A lot of banks and CC companies put a hold on the money until either (A) the store puts the charge through or (B) the charge is never put through and the funds are released back into the account which can take anywhere from 24 to 48 business hours. We deal with this all the time at work. If a customer buys tickets, uses a card and gives us the wrong billing address, the charge won't go through, but the bank will hold that money as if it did.... I talk to a lot of pissed off people on a regular basis.
I dealt with one customer who was using a visa prepaid card and she tried to buy tickets online. She somehow put in some wrong info and we never processed the order, but the visa company put a hold on her money (about $400) and she called me several times yelling and bitching about how we had her money, and all I could tell her was to call the visa people. She ended up calling the next day and had the visa people on 3 way... they hold funds on prepaid cards for 14 business days. (just a warning for those of you who buy or get them for the holidays) So basically she was out $400 for over 2 weeks. She wasn't a happy camper.
Anyhow... I don't shop at walmart anyway.... and I don't understand people who do lol

I shop at Wal-Mart because it pays our bills, puts food on our table and affords us to do other things because I can get things much cheaper, and is a better company then the last one my husband worked for. I understand there are bad stores, but I would attribute it more to bad management then anything else. I for one don't shop at our local Target because they screw you every chance they get and hassle about simple returns, and the manager is a 1st class jerk, but do go to Target at other cities when I get the chance.

Yeah, that's the only reason that I see for them to not accept orders from overseas. I don't think there's anything wrong with that but I can also see how it could be a problem from some people.

I think some people can find any reason they want to not shop a business.
I also see no reason why your DH cant tell you what he wanted ordered and you order it.
For all we know, they could have had 1,000 credit cards stolen in the last week from people overseas making large purchases and to guard against it they're blocking overseas charging.
They might also have to pay more on items bought in different countries. Who knows.
I hope you figure it all out.

According to their website they do accept overseas orders just not overseas credit cards or any over seas banking. They even have overseas websites to do your business on if you are in other countries. They ship to military establishments so I don't see why you can't order from a military establishment.

Well they must work at the Wal Mart not owned by ALL the other ones, becuase they DO NOT treat their employees well, NOT AT ALL...
Wage facts (http://www.wakeupwalmart.com/facts/)
PBS Story on Walmart (http://www.pbs.org/itvs/storewars/stores3.html)
Wilkipedia page on walmart criticism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Wal-Mart)
Over all it is NOT a good company, not a good place to shop, I have NEVER had anything good come out of shopping there or working there. I have seen with my own eyes at two different stores the BULLSHIT they do!!!
I know all places of business have faults, but Wal Mart has them ALL!!!
:getyou
One of the things I know of personally is the meetings they have with the employees who have been there for many years and have benefits and a good wage, they try to talk them into going part time... SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY BENEFITS!!
ALSO At the first store I was at, they would hire 4 part time employees and not have to pay benefits instead of hiring TWO full time employees and pay them benefits.
I also saw where departments were short several people and some employees wanted to volunteer to work and they wouldn't let us becuase we might get over time, so older women were made to work VERY hard to get their jobs done WITHOUT help!!!
THIS IS HOW WAL MART DOES ITS EMPLOYEES... Doesn't seem good to me??? But maybe I expect to much!! :slap
I thought of another thing... employees who had set schedules for YEARS being told if they don't open up their availability to work any time they would lose their hours... that was at both stores I worked at... Article about that (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/02/business/02walmart.html)
A CNN article about the schedule changes (http://money.cnn.com/2006/04/25/news/companies/walmart_labor/index.htm)
Seriously go to Wal Mart and ASK the cashiers about this stuff. They know it, but what can you do? In some cities Wal mart has pushed away any other places to work. When you are employed there they make it seem like a good deal, only to employ you and never follow through with anything.
And the BONUS'S??? HA The bonus at the Walmart here, where the lines at the registers are NEVER short and you run and run, and I stood for 4 hours past my break time, the bonus the last quarter was $65 Woppity friggen do...
FLAME AWAY, no one can convince me that WAL MART does ANY GOOD for ANYONE....

My Mom worked at Wal Mart for a long time and when they decided they didnt' need her anymore (she worked in the bakery) they stuck her on register. She was in her late 70's (at the time). Which made her a nervous wreck! She had never ran a register and they only did it so she would quit. And they kept complaining how slow she was. The Wal Mart here treats their employess like crap!!!

My husband has worked for WalMart for 6 years now and enjoys it also. And I'm not going to try to convince everyone that WalMart is good for people, I'm sorry for those who have had bad experiences, but WalMart deposits the check into our bank account that supports our household, and that's good for my family. I'm not saying nobody gets treated badly, but I haven't personally met one that actually had a problem with the company itself.....it was more the people running things.

that really stinks to treat a person like that. I do say that they love the manager of the store, so maybe that is what the difference is. I worked at Albertsons years ago. In the bakery for 2 years. Went on maternity leave
(my son is now 21), when I CAME back, they stuck me on registers. My bakery manager told me he hated it. I was the best hand he had. But a spanish girl had took my job while I was on leave. Albertsons was in trouble for not hiring enough miniorities. So they gave her my position to get people off their back. He said she wanted my job and she threatened to file discriminaton if she didn't get it. Like I say, that was 21 years ago.

Personally, I think the local management does far more disservice than the actual corporation. I know several people who work there and love it. They have flexible hours, good pay and management is great. I live in a town where unemployment hovers at just about 3%, employers are begging people to come work. Fast Food places offer $8-9 to start with $300-500 bonuses for hiring on. The only place in town where they aren't begging for people is Walmart. They have a waiting list.
People who hate Walmart (personally for me it is Target, who will not allow bell ringers and brownies in front of their door) will always hate Walmart. No matter what. Walmart is the largest charity donator in our town. They are always the ones the PTA and the Boy Scouts and the local sports groups can always count on for donations for raffles. They are the ones who organize the "welcome home" ceremonies at the airports for soldiers. They donate balloons and banners.
My Walmart is clean, the people are friendly and the store matches prices. I have never worked at Walmart, but have worked at a grocery store. Management was worthless and would reschedule your shifts with little to no warning, put you in a department you had no clue about and basically made you hate working there. Most people were in/out in 6 months.

I can see where it can look good and I can see the other side also. I am not saying I hate them any less, but I can see the other side of it.

You ask most people who work retail and they will all tell you the same story. I worked at a place called Ames and they worked me PT at 38 hours a week so they wouldnt have to give me benifits and i made a whopping 5.35 an hour and lets not even talk about breaks. I had to cover 3 depts at night to clean and that would be mens womens and childrens or houseware toys and linen you get my drift while others had one dept. They all suck if you ask me looking out for #1 to make the all mighty dollar.

I worked at Walmart and it was ok. My only problem was I told them when I started I could not work over 20 hours a week and I could not work past 10:30. I was a new mom and I was still nursing. They said no problem. Well of course they started scheduling me to work until midnight and to work 35 hours a week. They didn't see why I was upset.
As for donating to the community, etc. Walmart is great about that. But, our Targets make donations also. No, they do not allow any forms of solicitation in front of their stores. But, they as a corporation make many donations to schools, etc. They do a great field trip donation grant that our school got this year. I think it was $5,000. That's a lot of field trips. The most our school has ever gotten from Walmart was $25.00.
whatever

well from what I saw on the 20/20 special walmart has actually only donated about 2% of their worth much less than other places BUT at the same time it is there money so I dont sit in judgement of what they give cause many ppl think just because you have more money you should share but I do think it would be nice. Kind of like I told hubby if we ever win the lotto my first stop is St. Jude's I am gonna make life a bit easier on the parents there :)

See its things like this that I find unfair. You blame the store for following their rules. What are they supposed to do? What are they going to do with a remote that has no packaging? Why didnt you return it when you first found out it didnt work.
I hate to tell you this but ANY store would have done the same thing, not just "evil walmart".

Has anyone even gone to Walmart.com to view their factsheet about what they do for the communities?
We contribute more than $170 million to communities and local non-profit organizations each year. That's $18,000 an hour, or $5 a second.
Each year we pay more than $11.2 billion in state and local sales taxes and millions in property taxes. This funds local police, fire departments and schools.
Heres a PDF from them.
http://www.walmartfacts.com/FactSheets/Charitable_Giving.pdf
I want to also add that if you say "well my local Walmart doesnt have to pay taxes" thats up to your community to waive their taxes, alot of local communities wave business's from paying taxes for what the business brings to the community, like jobs.

Thats what every person who posts a complaint of PlanetFeedBack says when the store wont bend the rules for them. Walmart, K-Mart, Target. Targets the biggest one I see complaints about and its all cause they wont take something back thats past the date, without a reciept, no packaging.
Thats smart business. Not bad customer service.

I never did get a reply to my email asking about deployed soldiers ordering BUT a very nice lady called me last night. She said yes, they took orders from Iraq as long as payment was drawn on a US bank. I asked about orders being cancelled because of where the ISP was coming from and she hadn't heard of it happening but said she would check into it. She said she didn't even know they tracked ISPs. I wonder what happened with the OP since she hasn't been back to update.

Well, I spent the weekend trying to get my husband's money back. It was long, upsetting, and really just made me more angry at walmart than I was to begin with. They kept trying to pass me off on other people, didn't want to answer my questions, one girl actually lied to me and told me that they didn't have a manager around, so I told her that I had spoken to a manager only 30 minutes earlier, and that I didn't appreciate being lied to and that I was going to wait on the pone until she got me a manager. Lo and behold, not even 2 minutes later I was talking to a manager. Finally, on monday, my husbands money got put back into his account.
One of my main points in all this is that if they change a policy SO drastically, they need to let people know that before the order is completed. He was using his bank of america card, so it wasn't that he was trying to use an out of country bank. The shipping address, as well as the billing address, was our address here in the states. They should never have allowed the order to be processed if the, for some odd reason, no longer allow orders from an out of country ISP.
I used to be in wal mart at least two times a week, but after all this I am so digusted with not only the fact that they won't take orders from people overseas, the fact that they didn't let anyone know about this, and also the way I was treated each and everytime I called to try and resolve this. I don't believe I will ever shop at wal mart again.

My sister is a Dept. Mgr. at Walmart and has been there for 12 years. When she was a cashier her most comon complaint was that people in management were not on the same page. It is still that way for her as a Dept. Mgr. She sometimes get three different answers for a question. I think there problem is their pay is low and people don't stay long. Also her training for a Dept. Mgr. was very little. At the store she is at now there has been a change over of at least 5 Dept. Mgrs. You would think they would get the message and wonder why they cannot keep qualified help. She loves doing customer service and regular customers will look for her for help. Her aim is to make people go away happy. She has had some grumps that came in complaining and leave smiling.
I am wondering if OP emailed her local TV stationed. That would really get their attention.

I'm figuring that the wal mart's are a big deal here, they probably don't want to open up a can of worms with them about all of this. I really wish they would run something. I'm going to at least let our unit leaders know becuase we are a rapid deploy unit. There hasn't been a time since my husband and I got here three years ago that we haven't had some of our soldiers deployed. I hear ya me too...And isnt that funny this happens all over the world with walmart its like they are trained to just try to take over all the other businesses in the area and forget how to actually run a business, MY OPINION. I'm not sure if this is correct or not but have had people tell me that have worked there or that are working in my local walmart that at a certian time in the morning they all get together and pretty much chant about how they plan to take over all the other business' in the area?? has anyone heard that one before and i do believe i watched something about it on tv a while back. all i know is i hope this does not happen cause i dont find walmarts meats to be fresh and all the other food in the coolers seems to just been tossed in so half the boxes or packages are ripped or torn which doesnt keep food very fresh.I would be very disapointed if they took over our local market:(

His IP address was a non US address. He was trying to ship it to our house here in the states. So, it wasn't about where he was shipping it to, it was where he was when he placed the order.
If he is in Iraq, why doesn't he have a US GOV email address/IP ?? My son is deployed in Somalia right now, last year he was in Iraq, he has/had a US GOV email/IP when ever he is deployed. Makes no sense, did I miss something?
