freebie section gripe

Don't you just hate it when they request your phone number in order to get a freebie? I try to skip it, but it usually says I have to give it

I dont get the freebies that require my phone number. Somehow, one time there was a charge on my phone bill for some sort of voicemail service that I never authorized.

The only time I do the ones with my phone number is the Allure give-a-ways type deals.

I usually just give them my fax number.

I only give my phone number in the contest forum.

If the freebie's won't take 555-555-5555, then I use the phone # for my computer. If it is a "known" company. (I still have dial-up because we live in the boonies and have no other choice except satellite. too expensive for me)

If it is not a "known" Co. then I make one up or skip it.

lol someone told me a while back that they just invert a couple #s, which I started doing too, figuring I could always say the typo thing lol Patch posted a web site that supplies you with a phone number not long ago. Ive been using that now.:)

I got one of those free numbers that you can use for stuff like that. I made a post about it in off topic chat a while back. If someone calls you they will be told to leave a voice mail and then when they do you get an email and you can listen to the message right from your email. I haven't actually had anyone call and leave a message yet though other than Kevin because I wanted to try it out and see how it worked.
