you know how your doctors office always takes what insurance settles and then you pay copay. Well i had a 10 injections in my neck and we asked the doctor to make sure they were covered by insurance and he said yes. ANd they WERE!! but they billed in four sections, anthesia, the injections, exrays, etc. And the ins. only paid 900 of the 2400 they were billed for the anthesia.
The rest they put under NETWORK savings. Which means the the doctors office agrees to take that 900. So all i had to pay was my copay. Well the must have decided they are not happy about it now and i just got a 1500 bill in the mail from the doctors office. I guess they think i am not smart enough to know what they are trying to do!!!
Well they are in for shock Monday morning after i call my insurance!!!:getyou

I would watch Michael Moore's latest "Sicko". I am telling you, I am just disgusted. Not that I didn't know it was going on before, but man, it is just rotten. I would fight it tooth and nail and definatley tell your dr about this!I would even call and complain to your insurance co.

I am first thing monday morning. first the insurance and then dr. office. MY Ins paper said all i owed was my copay. which i paid. So that means the doctors office must have taken what was offered. I figure they thought most people don't look at what ins. pays and think i will just pay it. NO way!! My paper says i do NOT owe anything else. What does scare me a little is if the doctors try to discontinue my service there. But i dont see how they could do that. I feel this is between them and my ins.

It very well could have been a mistake. I had this happen once after a surgery and I got a letter from them after the insurance contacted them about it saying they were very sorry.
Or maybe they do it like that to everyone and it's their standard letter when they get caught. Who knows. It's not something I would get this upset about since all you have to do to correct it is make one phone call.

I have had the same peds doc for 161/2 years. it is the only doc my youngest 2 know. I had BCBS and my co pay was $10, BCBS paid $20 so the doctors got $30 a visit. When I lost my job and my insurance, I had to beg for a discount. They charged me $70 for a visit when my son broke his collar bone. Yet this is the same doctor that goes all over the world for free. Doctors without borders. How about a little compassion within our borders. Dont ever believe that the insured supplement the uninsured. It is the other way around.

CALL YOU INSURANCE COMPANY. If your md has a contract with your insurance company to accept the ucr (usual reasonable and customary) charges, you md CANNOT bill you. He is breaking the contract between him and the insurance company. Now if your md doesn't have a contract with your insurance company, you're responsible for the charges. Good Luck.
