Maybe I should have made this two threads. And yes, I consider SAHM a job. And yes, if you're retired, or want to be retired, just say that. For ideal job, let's pretend that money is no object. So it doesn't have to be a good paying job.

For me, I'm technically a police specialist, which means I have an office job at a police department.

My ideal job would be a travel/ vacation planner.

I was a SAHM for 14 years, went to work at my kids' school 2 years ago and last summer I got a job at a ticket office... and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE my job! I get to meet famous people, go to shows and events for free and I get paid really well to do it :)

Currently laid off, but Monday will be starting a job in a warehouse doing shipping and receiving. I am currently going to college for criminal justice, and am unsure of what I am going to get into after I finish that. I would love to be a SAHM and do a work from home job, but I have gotten scammed twice.

I am a preschool teacher and love my job. I receive decent pay, but no benefits at all. I work part time (25-33 hours per week) and get to spend a lot of time at home with my kiddos. I'm also back in school for my Early Childhood Education degree through the same school where I went to study Elementary Education. Ideally things would pretty much be the same, but I'd have good benefits (insurance, sick days, vacation, maternity leave, etc.).

I was a housewife (but went to work after the kids were both in school)
My ideal job..... Actually I love my job, and the office. I do not care for ONE employee. I have a great boss, and a fabulous manager. I like helping people feel better.

I am a semi-retired accountant. That means I still work full time but don't have a job that makes me crazy and requires long hours anymore. I guess I'd keep my current job but make the hours more flexible and disconnect the phones.

Executive Chef, but my ideal job would be a 'food stylist", taking food and making it look nice on magazine covers..did you know when you see a picture of say, cake with WHIP Cream, thatis actually Shaving Cream.. or Food Science, the kind that makes and decides how say "Hamburger Helper or Tyson Chicken Skillets" would be made, packaged and taste.
So I think that is also under Research and Devolpment.
But I don't do either.
Just a Chef..hmm..ugh!

right now I'm not doing anything but staying home w/ the furbabies. I started school for skin care (aesthetician) but the school pretty much screwed me over (along w/ another student) so I have not finished and need to start my lawsuit against them (it was a very bad situation) I think once that is taken care of next year I'm going to pastry school, I'm undecided if I'll finish up my aesthetician degree as I'm half way through and think that would make a great business - could make their wedding cake AND give facials/wax/ and apply fake lashes ;) LOL

Quite honestly though, I LOVE staying home doing nothing.. I'm such a lazy soul :D I really don't get bored being at home all day like people say they would, so I guess my ideal job would be finding the perfect man to take care of me :lol and then I could help and foster animals who need homes. :D

Professional Pet Groomer. Believe it or not, this is my ideal job even though it is hard and dirty job, and mostly unappreciated. Seems everyone thinks they can do it. I thought about going back to my old profession, used to be a Full Charge Bookkeeper/Office Manager, but I love working with animals and the flexibility.

Well I don't really work outside of the house. I am a full time caregiver to my husband, which of course comes with no pay or mdical benefits. However I do Love my husband very much and wouldn't ever think of having some one else take care of him. Now for my Me time I am a volunteer firefighter, which also comes with no pay or medical benefits, but I really enjoy helping others. And then in my spare time I do a whole lot of crafting, and if I'm really lucky that does pay all through the Christmas holiday season, if I'm not so lucky I know what the family will be getting for Christmas.

Before my husband needed full time care I managed a Days Inn Motel. I really loved the job and would some day like to be able to do that again, of course that I hope will be reality.

However my dream job would be to work in a CSI Crime Lab.

Currently an equipment specialist for a large manufacturing company. I'm going to school for computer engineering but would love to be a geneticist. I will eventually open my own network installation and support business but for now my job pays for school 100% so I can't give that up.

Well just keep climbing up that ladder and you will eventually make the big bucks. My best friend was a high school drop out. Now she is the head of respiratory therapy in a big hospital. She did it all by herself without any help from family. And she had 2 small children at the time. I don't know how she did it, but she did. Put herself through school, and worked a job. Plus had her kids to worry about. But now she's rich! When I first meet her she was dirt poor.

My cousin just completed LPN school, she also was a high school drop out with 3 kids. She started out as a EMT then worked her way up. :)

Since you already love that type of stuff, I bet you can do it too. You just have to have the desire to do it. :)

I am a floral designer... I do everything, funerals, weddings, hospital, anniversary pieces etc... I used to be a part owner of our city's largest floral shop... it's been here since the 1940's. We purchased it in 1985. I do love it, but, it's sometimes hard to be 'creative' on demand... that's where all your skills and experience kick in... the works look great, if you were in a creative mood or not.

I did manage an office for 6 years (and, of course, the floral shop's business end for the whole 8 years we owned it.)... that was awesome... I am great at business taxes, spread sheets, payroll, ordering, bill paying, and tons more company sales/goal forms and double-entry bookkeeping... I find that VERY fun work.

The perfect ideal job ??? Gee, I don't know... there is a chance I haven't done it yet...lol - I love to 'manage' things... keep things in order, running like a well oiled machine etc... Honestly, I have LOVED everything I have done, and am happy doing it.

I did get into 'computer stuff', and all that implies, back when Win-95 first came out... but, I got SO bored with it. I am not the type to sit in front of a computer 24/7... not even close ! LOL, I try to get in here (BBS) at least once a day, for like an hour (gotta check out the deals, coupons, contests, pass out rep etc...) everyday... and I moderate/admin another board as well... I give that about an hour a day... that's all the 'computer time' I can stand !!! I want to spend time with hubby... or I figure someone else might ! LMAO

I think the only thing I wanted to be as a teenager that I didn't try, was being a teacher. I used to 'make up' tests and stuff, and 'teach' my two nephews, when they were like 4, 5, 6 etc... I did it all the time, and made it fun... they loved it to ! They both became honor roll students all through school...lol

I was a SAHM for 9 years, I am now back at work in a school cafeteria. I love my job. I get great benefits, insurance and lots of paid time off. I do wish I got paid a little more but it isnt to bad. I work 6 hours a day. I drop the kids off at school, go to work, pick the kids up. It is great.
