I got my phone bill and much to my surprise I got slammed. Two companies that offer "discount" directory assistance calls decided that they wanted to add charges to my phone bills. I've never heard of either company, Enhanced Communications or Network Connections USA, but they thought they could charge me and I wouldn't notice. I got one of the charges from Enhanced Communications removed, but the other company has people that don't speak English at all working for them and they yelled at me when I called to tell them that I want a credit and their stupid service removed. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

yes it happened to me last month I can't remember what telephone company it was but they charged me 15.00 for a long distance service. I seen it on my bill and I immediatly called the company and guess what? they said I had signed up for it on a web site I was visiting and I agreed to their service. I argued with them and I had to pay the 15.00 he said they would take it off the next months bill and they did. I think that is crazy the only thing I can think of is I always use robofill and I must not have seen the box checked...

I had it happen too. They said I signed up on some website. I called my phone company and they disputed the charges along w/ me. It was removed.

TY both for the info. The company that yelled at me says they have a fax with my name and signature on it saying that I want their service. I asked them what the name was and they wouldn't give it to me. I called the phone company to dispute both charges so hopefully it will be taken off. What a scam these people are running.

Obviously it's not really you b/c you would have remembered doing that plus why wouldn't they tell you what the name was?!? shady ass people....

Network Connections USA is who yelled at me. Who knows what they said about me when I was on hold with them. Not like I would have been able to understand them anyways. They won't show me this so called proof either or tell me what name it is since obviously they have nothing that I signed. I'd never heard of their company until I got the bill and was like WTH?! And I haven't paid for a directory assistance call in ages, I use the free 800 one instead. Shady ass people is right.

We had this happen about a year ago. I called our phone company and they took it off for me. I was pissed. The girl I talked to said it happens a lot!
I'll be checking my phone bill now, just in case. lol

I hate when they do things like that! Last month I got a bill from Directory assit co. for 11.75 and the date on the calls was 09/01/07. They were suppossedly from my home number....that has been disconnected for 4 months! It took me forever to get it taken care of.

Your phone company should be able to take it off. Then you can have them but a freeze on your account so you can't be slammed again. I had to after 3 times.

We had that happen to us one time. We hadn't even gotten a bill before the phone company called us and asked us to come back to them. That was the first thing we heard about it. The phone comapny took care of the whole matter for us and then fixed it to where another phone company can never come in on us like that again.

I would call your states attorneys office. That is illegal to do what they are doing. I saw this on a news show several months ago. Where they pray on people and make them think they signed up for this stuff when in fact they haven't. You could actually get that company in trouble. I'm not positive but i think they have to have a electronic signiture or recording of you saying you wanted this added.

I filed a BBB complaint against the second company, Network Communications USA, since it's freaking impossible to get anyone who speaks English there to explain that this is a bs charge that I never authorized. Not to mention I didn't appreciate being yelled at for no reason, and they won't show me this "proof" of theirs. Someone from the fraud dept of my phone company is supposed to call me tomorrow to give more some more info on these scammers. I can't figure out for the life of me where they could have gotten any info about by phone #. I never give it out online.

I don't even bother calling the slammer, just my phone company. Last month I called and Verizon told me I'd been "crammed", not slammed. Didn't matter, it still upped my bill. Verizon took it off right then instead of crediting my next bill. They reinstated the block that the other company had removed before they crammed me. So what good is the block?

I just talked to the lady in the fraud dept. She was no help, so I called their regular c/s and got a wonderfully nice lady who was so helpful. She took the charges off and put a block on the line for any sort of miscellaneous charges. Hopefully this block will put a stop to this.

Last month america online wanted me to try a new program for free, and they wanted billing information, just in case I liked the new computer program. I told them my phone service is through my cable company and they still wanted the info. I kept telling the lady no, she made me so mad being insistant, that I hung up on her.

I guess they are just hoping that ppl dont actually read their bills.......I read each and every bill that comes through just looking for places where I might be over charged lol
I got hit in april. mine is paid directly each month, and with work and school, I hadn't checked it. Evidently, I signed up for a contest and they took that as an agreement. Neither sbc or the stupid company would get rid of the charges. My block that was supposedly on my phone was evidently taken off. I truly hate phone companies. One of these days I'm going to just disconnect everything and stick to just my cell.
