Maybe I missed this, but do you have some sort of screening process for this? Minimum amount of feedback + minimum amount of time? Also, if you get me a list of all potential participants, I can check them against any of my records for reports of bad trades. The only people who are ON the BTL are people who have had 3 or more reports against them, so those who've scammed others just once or twice (or only been reported once or twice) aren't actually publicly visible to all.

I think she was just suggesting that since you've never run one before perhaps it would be easier to have the adult swap and the children's swap be two separate entities.

Also, as far as the rules go, I'm not sure how fair it is to the whole group if you're not going to check the amount of time as a member and require a minimum amount of feedback. People who are new AND have no feedback are many times the "bad news" of the bunch. I think you should consider adding minimums to membership and feedback to be fair to all involved. Those who miss out can perhaps get in next time after they've, A) been here a while and B) made some trades. There are, of course, always exceptions to this rule as there are people who have been here for years that don't do FSOT, but participate in all the swaps. I'm sure that "feedback" can be found for them in the old swap threads. JM2C

I only say this because its a Christmas swap, perhaps if the people with little to no feedback would be willing to send their end first. I dunno, Im sorry, I just wanted to put that out there.

The only thing with Liz is the she relatively new here and then her posts about how her money situation is. I would trade with Faithfully, Mini and TNgirl, even tho they have no feedback.

BUT this is michelle's exchange and she can run it how she wants. As for the ones saying they thought it a Secret Santa, she never said it was, so I don't understand the confusion on that.

But the bottom line is that ANYONE can screw you over, not just new people or people with no feedback. Everytime I've been ripped off here at BBS it has been a by a member with decent feedback and who has been here for a while.

Wow...I can't believe how something this great got so off-track...and not by the organizer. WTG earnhardt on starting this Christmas swap/exchange.

I want to say that just because someone does not have feedback doesn't mean they are a bad trader. I'm sure I have no feedback because I don't participate in any of these. I was however, part of an ornament exchange way way back in the beginning (and the recipient loved her Disney snowglobe ornament). Also, Unicorn9147 and I were secret pals who became good friends. She and her husband even came down for a visit and I took them to Disneyland.

I don't participate anymore because I have rarely gotten anything of value that I would use. But I know that many people have been really happy with these activities and these things can bring the board together.

Lastly...I remember when faithfully joined and we had some offline discussions at the time. She is a great gal and shouldn't be excluded from this swap.

Yesterday when I was asking about this swap/exchange, that's what I was trying to ask, if it was a "secret" one. I was obviously confused. But I did go back and read through the thread and you're right, she did say about partners so now I can see that it was clear on the intentions.

That's one of the reasons I am not going this swap. I have done swaps way back when before the feedback thing started and I have been here forever but I guess I would be treated like a newbie because I don't trade on this board. For the record, when I did my one and only swap on here years ago, I got stuck with someone who didn't send their end.

Once again I am NOT getting in on this exchange, but it really isn't fair going by a 2 or better feedback either. I have been in numerous exchanges (xmas, valentine's, st. pat's, easter, autumn .. done my own) and only have a 1 .. we didn't always do feedback. And ppl don't always give it. So you need to check more than just into feedback .. ask around if your not sure about a person .. you have to be fair in all ways. I am sure anyone who I've exchanged with on here will tell you that I never screwed them.

My point is don't just go by feedback scores.
