Why all banning?

I'm am noticing alot of it lately. I sure would like to know so I don't do whatever they did. Oh.. another question, If I log on from my sisters house while i'm visiting her for 10 days next month is that going to get me banned?

I could be wrong... but, from what I've gathered so far, it's people that have more than one account... like, having several BBF accounts, all under one IP address... people bumping their own posts, and, making comments to their own posts etc... maybe even coming in and starting crap under one account, and then logging back in under another... but all from the same computer.

The reason for the bannings, is because there are a few ppl that have been banned in the past for breaking rules, and have since, decided to come back in, on a daily basis, registering new aliases. That in itself, is against the rules. They also, have made total nuisances of themselves, by posting tons of reposts, repeatedly bumping posts, made by the formerly banned aliases, posting crap, that they know, nobody wants, posting freebies, that are not really freebies, wasting ppl's time clicking on links that lead to non-freebies, dead links, expired offers...and, doing the "thank you" bit, where they just go down the line, clicking on every post, just to say thanks, when they didn't even go to check out the freebie offer. By doing this, every night, they usually manage to tie up the first two pages, making it necessary to wade through all their junk, to get to the legitimate posts, which get pushed way back. Then, a mod, usually Patchouli, has to come in and ban them, and then go in and get rid of all their trash. Hope that was all understandable. As far as going to your sister's, and using her computer, does she have a bbs account? If not, there should be no problem, using your own account, on her computer. The problem comes in, when there are more than one account, coming from the same IP address. If she does have a BBS account, you may just want to use her's while you're there, so it doesn't show two ID's with one IP.

What happens if i'm on her computer logged in as me, (no wait i'm vaguely remembering something like this in another post but can't remember what happened), And she sits next to me and watches what i'm doing and decides she wants to join? Boy a what a can of worms that is, that would show two people from the same Ip address right? But then again, my account was created from a library computer way back when. So is it the creation of two accounts on one IP? Also if, say my daughter in law moves in with us (it could happen) and she likes freebies too and makes an account from here, I am fired? And the top ten question is..
What happens to the people who create accounts from the library and a few days later someone else goes into the library and creates an account. Are the both fired or all the people after that fired? Say one person is a trouble maker and all the others aren't everybody gets banned from the library IP?

As long as you let the mods know, there shouldn't be a problem.

I log in here with my user name and password just about every night from work and there has never been a problem. I have also logged in from relatives computers while on vacation.

The key to it is not to try to reregister. That is what can and will get you banned.

QuakerParrot is right also. All you have to do is let a Mod know what's going on if someone should register from your computer. There has been and still are husband and wife members here.

I have logged in as me from both of my sisters computers and they are both members and I haven't had a problem .. I never knew it would be an issue though. But you could always notify a mod, let them know you'll be logging in at your sisters, let them know she isn't a member, but may join .. just to avoid any confusion.

I don't think anyone needs to tiptoe around to avoid getting banned .. just post, have fun and don't do things that could get you banned .. it's not that hard .. lol.

Most of the recent banning is of spammers.

If you log in under your user name you can log in from any computer you want. The ones who create two accounts and use both of them to spam or deceive members are the ones who get banned. If you have another person in your home who is also a member, its a good idea to let us know so that we don't think that you have 2 accounts.

Exactly what she said...lol, I know there were people on here with several accounts all from the same IP nimber.

Before Kevin and I got married he registered at a library in Rhode Island because he was living in Rhode Island at the time but now that we are married and share the same computer it shows us both under the same IP address.

Really thank you all for putting me out of my worries. I'm just getting a little nervous about what's been going on here and know it will calm back down eventually and nervous about leaving my house and my husband for 10 days, a son moving back home while i'm gone, starting some online classes that I will doing from sisters house too and all the other little stuff of mundane life I just never have been gone so long and didn't want to get shut out of my favorite site because I took a vacation. Silly I know But there is something about this trip that has me anxious.. something doesn't feel right.
