There are some changes being made by John and Brandon and thats one of them. Its a vulnerability for spammers.

Thats about all I know! :D

Never even knew about it! I have a hard time figuring out anything in the options. Just happen to find a list today of people that repped me. Don't know how I found it and probably will never find it again! lol

I used to use the invisible option but finally turned it off. No need in trying to be invisible when I'm posting all the time for everyone to see:o

I see what you're saying, although from what I've observed, those that are spamming don't use the invisible mode anyway. Plus it's not really going to stop them from spamming anyway. They just have multiple accounts and keep creating more and continue to make the same posts over and over. Not having the invisible mode is not going to stop that.

Obviusly a lot of people don't use it. Why have something that's not needed.

But...but..but....we have allot of things that's not needed like for instance:
Avatars
smilies,
sig. lines
different styles of fonts
etc.. :)

It's just another feature that some of us enjoy! :)

A lot of the spammers, you guys never see because the posts are moderated. A few have gotten through, but all I know is what we were told by John ... I don't know how all the techie stuff works :dontknow:

I used to stay on invisible, don't know why, I posted all over the place, so everyone knew I was around.

Once again whoever is in charge is doing changes taking away and once again, unhappy members...will they ever learn?

I really don't understand the needs to be invisible unless you'd made a bad trade and were "hiding" while viewing the boards.

Even then all you would have to do is look at the person's profile and it would tell when their last activity was or does it not do that if the person is invisible?

I liked to stay invisable and I never trade so I guess it is a personal choice but then again Big brother is always watching anways. I dont like having to click back 2xs to get back to off topic because of ads placed that we are going to without knowing it.

But if you're posting, then people know you are online. I'm just trying to understand why it really matters that much to people? I would understand if you were using a messenger program and didn't want to be bothered, but how is someone going to bother you on a message board? As far as having to click back 2x...I've never had to do that. Could be the browser you are using? I use Firefox.

I used to put myself on invisable a long time ago, so someone wouldn't start PM'ing me everytime they saw my name at the bottom. (they no longer post) and I just never changed it. I don't always post when I'm here, and that way I could read, sign up for freebies or whatever and not be bothered by them. Finally I just put them on my ignore list. Then just never changed it back from invisable.

I also have to click the back button twice to get back to where I was. I'm glad I'm not the only one it's happening to.

That happens here sometimes, to some people. I'm not having to do it now, but have before.

I'm having to do that to, and I'm on internet explorer. Thought it was just my comp acting up....

Because I like the feature. Obviously people can see that I'm posting, but all other forums that I'm on have the feature of being invisible, too...I don't like having to feel like I have to respond in a post or a pm right away just because they can see me. Anyway, I understand your question, but I don't really feel like I have to explain why I like the feature. I just do. I don't trade, but I do report spam and all of the ones that I've reported never use the feature. Spammers really don't care if you can seem them because they just keep signing up for more and more user names and keep posting the same links. So I still don't see how the ignore feature is going to help them out. It would be more beneficial if the owners of the board had some sort of screening process (no idea how that would work) that made it impossible for there to be more than one user from the same ISP. Because that is the real problem.

Someone else asked can't you see when your last activity was even if someone was using the invisible feature--no, normal members can't, although I would think that administrators of the forum can see anything (maybe I'm wrong about this?)

On the other topic, I use firefox and have no problems with the back feature (only have to do it once).

There are a few of us who have husbands or other family members that have an account here and use the same computer. If they made it so that there can only be one user per ISP address then they wouldn't be able to post. Unfortunately we only have one computer so Kevin and I take turns using it.

I think it IS supposed to be one user per IP addy. But if they know your SO has an account too it's ok.

Yeah I thought about that after I posted that. That is a dilemma. I wish the spammers would just go away and get a life. They are totally irritating.

I don't like spammers either. A couple of weeks back I had to delete some posts that a person had made. They were posting porn links on random threads. One of them was in the religious forum. I like your Kermit avatar.

I wasn't trying to force people to explain themselves. I honestly didn't see a reason to be invisible on a message board, but now I understand from the few that said something. I guess I'm not on here often enough to be bothered by people that send me PMs. I also haven't done any trades since last year sometime, so I don't have people contacting me from BBS.
