Handfasting, in the way I've seen the term used, is often the pagan celebration of marriage, or joining two lives together.

Hippiechick, if there is one thing I learned from my wedding, it was to tell the jeweler, dress makers, program printers, basically anyone who was contributing something that needed to be there ahead of time, that the wedding was A FULL WEEK before the actual date.

Thank God I did this with the bridesmaids gown - as it turned out, the dresses were not done being altered until late the night BEFORE they thought was my wedding day. If it had really been the night before my wedding, I'd've been even more stressed out than I already was!

Is there any way the jeweler can overnight express the rings to you? I hope you get them in time, but look at it this way - in twenty years, it will be one of those stories that you and your DH laugh about as you tell your kids "well, our rings were a day late to the wedding!"

The jeweler delivered his last week and then mine on Friday. Mine were inscribed wrong, so even with expetited delivery, it's gonna take a while to get new ones and do the inscriptions. Val1 is right, handfasting can be legal or not (ours won't be) but it's like a marriage ceremony.

Leif was thinking about just going to walmart and get one to use on Fri. Bet he'll have a hard time trying to find a size 3 band tho.

I usually wear a size 4 on that finger, but have lost some weight recently that I hope to gain back, so maybe a 4 will be easier to find. As long as I have one for the ceremony it'll be ok, I guess, doesn't have to be the exact size. I'm still hoping I'll get them in time tho, anything can happen, right?

Agree! I am not a large person but my fingers are like sausages! :p I think my wedding ring is a 7 or 8! I never liked my hands....I always wanted pretty looking hands....:(

I used to wear a size 6 and now I think its a size 10 from all the swelling and weight gain.

I just inherited some family heirlooms and got wedding rings and boy are they tiny !

We decided to postpone the handfasting until July 13th. besides my rings not being here in time, a med that I am on caused my face to swell up and no way I'm getting handfasted looking like this!

Now we've just changed the date of our handfasting again....to August 4th. July 13th is the day that one of my friends passed away and I really rather not get married then. So august 4th is the next friday he'll be able to take of work.

I swear, sometimes I wonder if we should even be trying to do this, seems like something is always preventing us from it!

I feel for ya ladies... my ring size is 5 and I feel that I have sausage fingers... I want long slender hands, my hands are so tiny in length w/ sausages on the end. :(
